A Seinfeld executive producer’s home lists for $17.75 million

Producer Andrew Scheinman, known for his work on Seinfeld, When Harry Met Sally, and Stand By Me, has listed his Los Angeles new build for $17.75 million. Designed by Rockefeller Kempel Architects, the home was just completed after a five year process.

Ideal for hosting, the open concept main level features multiple spacious lounge areas, a see-through wine closet that stores up to 72 bottles, and a home theater complete with a 165-inch screen and Dolby Atmos 9.2 surround sound. Wide-plank European oak flooring and Western red cedar paneling on select walls and ceilings offer texture throughout the home. One hundred and fifty trees were planted on the property to offer a sense of seclusion on the floor-to-ceiling windowed main level. The sizable pool is accompanied by a wet bar, pool house, and outdoor shower, while a rooftop deck looks over the hills of Brentwood and offers a glimpse of the Pacific Ocean.

The open living space features a transparent wine storage system.

The six-bedroom, nine-bathroom home’s primary suite is particularly well-appointed, with a large balcony accessible by sliding pocket doors, two fireplaces, and two bathrooms. The first is defined by its Carrara marble walls and floors and granite tub, while the second has a three-sided glass steam shower. A walk-in closet is accessible from each of the primary bathrooms. Elsewhere in the upper level, one bedroom is set up for use as a gym, complete with an infrared sauna for recovery.

The listing is held by David Kramer of Hilton & Hyland/Forbes Global Properties and Paul Czako of Gussman Czako Estates.

Among the many charming architectural styles common in Los Angeles lies a collection of storybook houses built in the 1920s and ’30s. The Laurel Canyon home of Grammy-nominated musician Rufus Wainwright is one such home, complete with a winding staircase, mixed stone and brick chimney, and diamond pane windows.

A bold use of color inside matches the fanciful architecture, with red-painted cathedral ceilings in the living area, a bright yellow dining room, and a blue kitchen. The home has three bedrooms and three and a half baths, which appear to be recently remodeled. The most unique element is perhaps its octagon-shaped library with windows that appear nestled behind the trees. Each level of the 2,100 square-foot-home offers a balcony, and there are multiple distinct outdoor spaces, including a paved terrace and a stone patio with a koi pond. The home is just down the street from the Chateau Marmont and a number of architecturally significant properties, including architect Pierre Koenig’s Stahl House and the Storer House by Frank Lloyd Wright. “I wrote Unfollow the Rules here including one of my favorite pieces ‘Peaceful Afternoon’…. we have had many of those here and I hope that the next tenants enjoy it as much as we did,” Wainwright wrote on X (previously known as Twitter) in an announcement that he was selling the property.

Wainwright and his husband Jörn Weisbrodt listed the 1926 build for $2.2 million, a notable increase from the $1.45 million they paid in 2016. The listing is held by Dag Eliason and Alexandre Anu of the Agency Beverly Hills.

An AD-featured, Jeremiah Brent–designed West Village apartment

“I really believe in creating a space based on the moments you imagine living in that home,” AD100 designer and television personality Jeremiah Brent told AD when it featured a 2,500-square-foot West Village abode. “Finding a way to reinterpret your home as an expression of how you live is really good design.” And it’s very easy to imagine a pleasant and cosmopolitan existence in the Brent-designed home that just hit the market for $9.5 million.

Eye-catching windows define the apartment, offering charming views of the neighborhood below. A cozy and classy banquette sits in the center of the living space, dividing the subdued kitchen from the bold blue lounge area. The primary suite, complete with two walk-in closets and a spacious Carrara marble bathroom, sits on one side of the living space, while a hallway on the opposite side leads to the two additional bedrooms, the den, and the laundry room.

Designed by Cookfox Architects and completed in 2013, the building offers an array of amenities including an expansive gym with a yoga studio and 75-foot lap pool, plus a plunge pool, jacuzzi, steam room, and sauna.

The unit is listed with Douglas Elliman’s Jared Halpern, Michael Lorber, and Alexander Boriskin.

A home with a musical past lists for $27.9 million

Eagle-eyed music fans may recognize this Los Angeles house—its likeness once graced the interior gatefold of George Harrison’s second solo album. Both Harrison and Ringo Starr appear in the picture, alongside other musicians Harrison worked with on the album, as well as entertainment attorney Abe Somer, the home’s owner. Somer was a fixture of the ’60s and ’70s music scene in particular, with a client list that included the Rolling Stones, the Mamas & the Papas, the Beach Boys, and the Doors along with the Beatles. Somer passed away in 2023, and his widow and daughter are now selling the legendary property that has been in their family for over 50 years.

The 1927-built primary structure has been well maintained in its original style both inside and out, save for the tastefully renovated, more contemporary-leaning kitchen and bathrooms. Leaded-glass windows, wood paneled ceilings, and built-in bookshelves and cabinetry appear throughout, all in immaculate condition. Additional structures, both in the same style, include a pool house with a kitchenette and lounge area and a carriage house with a grand double height library and guest suite.

Located in the desirable neighborhood of The Bird Streets, the nearly two acre property features grounds designed by Mark Rios in the style of an English estate. An oval lily pond, brick pathways, koi ponds, and waterfalls add tranquility to the grounds. A tennis court accompanied by a viewing pavilion, plus a fenced in pool, layer on even more appeal.

Carolwood Estates’s Richard Ehrlich holds the listing.

A beloved Greene & Greene residence has hit the market for $110 million.

A historical Silicon Valley property by Greene & Greene re-lists for $110 million

In 1911, after the Greene brothers made their name in Southern California with their Arts & Crafts bungalows, they were hired to create a home in the Valley of Heart's Delight—later dubbed Silicon Valley—for entrepreneur Mortimer Fleishhacker. According to the Greene & Greene virtual archives, the Fleishhackers weren’t major fans of the homes that made the Greenes famous. They wanted an English manor with a thatched roof—not exactly textbook Greene & Greene, but certainly still within their wheelhouse. The resulting 10,000-square-foot home is one of the Greenes’ largest structures, and the centerpiece of a truly one-of-a-kind 74-acre property in tony Woodside, California. In 1986 it was listed in the National Register of Historic Places for its impressive grounds and structures.

Re-listed for $110 million after first going for sale for $135 million in 2021 and $125 million in 2023, the Agency CEO Mauricio Umansky now holds the listing. The property includes seven different residences in a variety of styles, two of which are historically protected, for a total of 34 bedrooms and 26 bathrooms. The expansive grounds include vast lawns, a tennis court, and vegetable gardens, plus three regular swimming pools, and a 100-yard Roman pool surrounded by stone arches.

According to the listing, only half an acre is devoted to living area, leaving over 70 acres of unfettered nature. The home has been in the Fleishhacker family since it was built in 1911 and has primarily served as a summer residence throughout those 100-plus years.

The four-bedroom house offers access to the outdoors from nearly every room.

For $18 million, a Miami property almost fully surrounded by water

Built in 1955 but newly reimagined in a four-year renovation process, this Miami home features exactly what everyone wants in the sunny city: plenty of water frontage. The four-bedroom, five-bathroom house’s layout maximizes its idyllic outdoor space by offering exterior access from nearly every room, whether it be communal spaces off of the family room and kitchen or more secluded smaller exterior spaces off of bedrooms and even from the primary bathroom. The property offers two docks on opposite sides of the parcel, a jet ski lift, multiple wood decks, a pool, a putting green, and an outdoor kitchen.

Interiors were crafted by Deborah Wecselman, the Miami-based designer who was once the senior decorator of international store design at Ralph Lauren. The sun-filled great room features 25-foot-high ceilings, built-in bookshelves, and wood accents. Finishes are kept neutral, drawing the eye out to the surrounding water. The primary suite has a spacious bedroom, walk-in closets, and a bathroom with dual vanities and a soaking tub. Additional amenities include a wine cellar and a pair of Tesla charging stations.

The listing is held by Nancy Batchelor of Compass Florida.

Inside the 11,300-square-foot Knightsbridge apartment, now for sale for $62.5 million.

A prestigious London flat for $62.5 million

Tourists from across the world flock to the Knightsbridge neighborhood on visits to London for a glimpse of the luxurious neighborhood and its historical architecture. Just around the block from Harrod’s, the neighborhood’s crown jewel, is this 11,300-square-foot apartment that embodies the grandeur of its locale.

Located on prestigious Hans Place, the property is among the largest flats available for purchase in the area at present. Current owner John Symond, the founder of Aussie Home Loans, purchased two units in 2017 and set to work combining the pair. Apartment 3 contains two dining rooms, a study, three spacious bedroom suites, a family kitchen, a chef’s kitchen, and a courtyard, while Apartment 2 has a combined study and dining room, three additional bedrooms, another kitchen, a home theater, a games room, and a terrace.

Located within the Kingswood boutique development by Finchatton, the new interiors were completed in 2017 and balance the historical charm of Knightsbridge with modern luxury. Thoughtful millwork and marble accents create an air of opulence and history and building amenities including underground parking, a state-of-the-art gym, and underground storage offer convenience. The building’s proximity to Hyde Park, the Victoria & Albert Museum, and the Royal Albert Hall are just the cherry on top.

The listing is held by Henry McAlister of United Kingdom Sotheby’s International Realty.

A Downtown Aspen triplex penthouse for $65 million

While some property owners in Aspen are desperate for the ski-in and ski-out lifestyle, others prefer easy access to the snowy Colorado town’s hot spots. This $65 million penthouse is sure to appeal to the latter: Located in prime walkable Downtown Aspen, this 4,900-square-foot triplex is moments from the Silver Queen Gondola and from the many luxurious shops and restaurants the ski town has to offer.

According to Robb Report, the current owners Billy and Julie Macklowe renovated the space from top to bottom after purchasing it in 2015 for $13.4 million. The couple worked with Karen White, a local interior designer, to craft a modern and tastefully colorful space. Grand windows throughout the home’s living spaces, four bedrooms, and four bathrooms provide views of the snowy mountains and idyllic downtown area. Outdoor space is abundant, too, with a deck accessible from the primary bedroom, a Juliet terrace located off of the great room, and to top it all off, a roof deck complete with a barbecue and hot tub.

Per the listing, penthouses are no longer allowed to be developed in Aspen, making this well-appointed property all the more noteworthy. The home is being offered turnkey and the listing is held by Steven Shane of Compass.

The Beverly Park home features Tuscan-style architecture.

At $47.5 million, a home in Beverly Hills’ most sought-after gated community

Last year the sale of Mark Wahlberg’s 6.2-acre property made headlines for its whopping $55 million price tag. Located in the exclusive Beverly Hills gated community of Beverly Park, the deal was one of the most expensive public celebrity real estate sales of 2023. Naturally for a neighborhood with a long list of former celebrity residents that includes Adele and Justin Bieber, homes in Beverly Park are highly sought-after—and come with a mega price tag. Luckily for prospective buyers, Carolwood Estates listed a nearly three-acre property in Beverly Park at the top of the new year.

The property in question is a 17,365-square-foot Tuscan-style mansion. Built in 2006, the home is an entertainer’s haven, starting with a stone circular motor court that leads guests into a grand foyer. A sweeping staircase defines that room, and continues into the detailed living spaces. According to the Wall Street Journal’s reporting, in the aughts, the current owners sought to re-create some of their favorite design elements spotted while traveling in Europe—an undertaking visible in locales like the wood-paneled office, which is an homage to the Hotel Danieli in Venice, Italy.

Amenities include a pool and accompanying pool house with a full gym, a home theater that seats 30 and an adjacent home bar, manicured gardens, and a wine cellar that can accommodate up to 3,000 bottles. The listing is held by Linda May and Alex Soriano of Carolwood Estates.

Maria Sharapova spends $11.5 million on a Montecito home

From Oprah to Gwyneth Paltrow, Montecito, California has no shortage of celebrity residents. Now tennis star Maria Sharapova joins their ranks, with the purchase of a 3.3-acre estate that sits right next door to Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry’s primary residence. The wood-clad home was designed in 1949 by Lockwood de Forest Jr., a landscape architect who designed a select number of homes too. Containing five bedrooms and four-and-a-half baths, the home is dialed into nature, with large windows that frame the views of the landscaping, the expansive pool, and the Pacific Ocean. A one-bedroom guest house offers a full kitchen and living area and a substantial loggia is perfect for outdoor entertaining, with a full scale outdoor kitchen and an adjacent, similarly large sunken fire pit with built in seating.

Sharapova paid $11.5 million for the home in an all-cash deal. The previous owner was philanthropist Ann Lurie, who purchased the home for $8.3 million in 2005.

Nine Chapel opens sales in downtown Brooklyn

Outdoor space is the one thing every New Yorker seems to want—but that only a fraction of real-estate inventory can offer. Real-estate development firm Tankhouse has announced that sales are now open for Nine Chapel, a 27-unit luxury condominium designed by AD100 firm SO-IL that reimagines what connection to the outdoors can look like for apartment dwellers.

Each unit in the 14-story building sits on a corner, offering outdoor space and at least two exposures. Rather than interior hallways leading from elevators to individual units, open-air walkways add another opportunity for connection with the outdoors, though softened with radiant heated floors and perforated aluminum walls along the facade. Particularly unique are the entry landings in front of each unit’s doorstep, allowing a “front porch” experience for city dwellers. The interiors are defined by large windows, wide-plank oak floors, and exposed concrete columns, for a chic industrial effect. Gubi provided furnishings for the model home space and co-working area.

Pricing begins at $1,040,000 for a one-bedroom unit, while a three-bedroom penthouse with four exposures costs $3.7 million. “Nine Chapel is for the buyer who appreciates incredible design, craftsmanship, and attention to detail—all without sacrificing New Yorkers’ most requested home feature: private outdoor space,” Leslie Marshall of the Cornell Marshall Team at Corcoran New Development said in a release. “We look forward to introducing buyers to this innovative style of urban living in one of Brooklyn’s best neighborhoods. It’s no surprise we’ve already had robust interest in Nine Chapel even before launching sales, with the most discerning buyers wanting to guarantee their spot in this building.” The Cornell Marshall Team at Corcoran will be handling sales for the building.

The 32-story tower was designed by Pelli Clarke & Partners with interiors by Rafael de Cárdenas.

Over on the Upper East Side, The 74 launches sales

AD100 designer Rafael de Cárdenas has made his name in soulfully luxurious spaces, and this new addition to the Upper East Side is no exception. Developed by the Elad Group, The 74 is a uniquely sculptural 32-story tower with architecture by Pelli Clarke & Partners and interiors by de Cárdenas. From the white terracotta textured facade to the marble-adorned interiors, quality and contemporary style are at the forefront of the building’s design.

“Our vision for The 74 is high style. The homes reflect a tension between romance and rigor with a robust sensibility that is urban but also calming,” says de Cárdenas. “The spaces are airy and light. The interiors are exacting yet lush.” Interior details include windows made by Polito Serramenti in Borgosatollo, Italy, graceful parquet flooring, and subdued Pink Namibia marble in the powder rooms. Amenities for the building encompass a library lounge with a wet bar, an entertainment suite, a fitness center with a Pilates studio, and a children’s playroom.

Sales are being led by the Corcoran Sunshine Marketing Group with prices ranging from $2.975 million for a two-bedroom unit to $12.5 million for a four-bedroom, full-floor apartment.

A rendering of Olson Kundig’s design for the residences at Telluride.

The Olson Kundig–designed Four Seasons Hotel and Private Residences Telluride opens sales

Florida-based developers Merrimac Ventures and Fort Partners launched sales for the Four Seasons Hotel and Private Residences Telluride last month, according to a release. Its the first project outside of Florida for both developers, the latter of which has opened three Four Seasons hotels in Florida to date, in addition to Four Seasons Fort Lauderdale which the pair previously collaborated on. It’s also Telluride’s first luxury development in a decade and a half.

The property is designed by AD100 firm Olson Kundig. “Each home reflects an essential connection between interior living spaces and the dramatic landscape, merging expansive views with a tranquil home environment that is comfortable yet refined, perfectly representing Telluride’s character and charm,” said Tom Kundig, co-design principal, in a statement. The interiors feature stone and wood finishes throughout, plus floor-to-ceiling windows offering views of Mount Wilson, Campbell Peak, and Palmyra Peak. AD100 mother-and-son interiors team Clements Design is responsible for the hotel and residence interiors.

Ski amenities will include ski-in/ski-out access, ski valet, and private lockers. A fitness center, spa, indoor pool, outdoor hot tub, underground parking, housekeeping, and butler services will also be available for residents. Individual units offer spacious private terraces, fireplaces, and perhaps most notably, oxygenation systems that counteract the affects of the high altitude.

Sales are being led by Compass’s Bill Fandel and Brian O’Neill of the O’Neill Stetina Group with prices beginning at $4 million.

The original Barneys is going residential

The Chelsea retail space that once housed the original Barneys has been sold, according to The Real Deal. Architect and developer Raymond Chan purchased the Seventh Avenue property for $22 million from the debt fund that foreclosed on previous owner Ben Ashkenazy. That price tag marks a significant drop from the $57 million that Ashkenazy paid in 2014 before defaulting on his $46 million loan in 2020. The 40,000-square-foot building has roughly 55,000 square feet of development rights. Per The Real Deal, Chan plans on building residential condos in a modern style with ground-floor retail.

This conversion may have been a long time coming—Barneys left their original Seventh Avenue location in 1997 after filing for bankruptcy in ’96. Barneys’ larger location, located on Madison Avenue, was purchased by Authentic Brand Groups in 2019 and closed in 2020.
