I've been using plastic jags that bend or break with a tight fitting patch, or get lost in the box of cleaning supplies, so this seemed like a good purchase. These jags eliminate the issues altogether. The main point of using a jag is to get a snug fit to remove the bore cleaner and the fouling in the bore, and the variety in this box provides a jag for all the common calibers. The benefits you get are

a size for all the common applications
a material that won't stain your patch - if you see a dirty patch, you know you still have some residue in the bore
a box to keep them organized - they snap in place firmly
a solid metal tool that should last longer than you will
threads that fit the popular kits you buy from Amazon, Walmart or wherever (the smallest jag is an exception - it has different threads)

Some say you might damage the bore, but I can't imagine that you would. With a patch on it, you won't touch the bore with metal, and coming back out it is quite loose. If you worry about damaging the bore, go with the brass and have some peace of mind. Either way, a full set of metal jags with a box to keep them organized is a winner.

I really like the Tipton jags quite a bit. The plating keeps them from giving a false bluish color on cleaning patches leading you to believe there is still copper fouling in the bore when cleaning with a copper remover. That does tend to happen with brass jags in my experience.

One great thing about this kit is the variety of calibers that it covers. This is helpful when you run into the issue that I noted below.

One caveat: You may need to use smaller cleaning patches with a jag than you would with a slotted cleaning setup. For example, my patches that are for 30 caliber barrels are very tight if I use the 30 caliber jag from this set. I can use a smaller patch (or trim my patches) with the 30 caliber jag, or just go down one jag size and stay with the patches that I already have.

Overall, I think this is a great set and was a really good deal compared to buying a bunch of individual jags.
