Willa Doon has always been shy. Her quiet demeanor was something she’s always embraced. That is, until Jackson Page moves to town. The one man she desperately wants to take notice struggles to remember her name.
Year after year, Willa stands by, watching as the bartender slash playboy drowns his demons in beer and sex. Then one night, he shows up at her door, suddenly aware that the girl he’s seen around Lark Cove is now a beautiful woman.
Except what he doesn’t remember is that this visit isn’t his first. They spent a night together once before. A night he’s forgotten, thanks to a bottle of tequila.

Denver Perry and all her beautiful, majestic, romantic words just speak to me with such poetic clarity!
She has an incredible way of connecting my heart to the characters in her stories and making feel invested in their joys and sorrows. The story of Jackson Page and Willa Doon was no exception; I loved every moment!
Blurb:
A night that crushed a timid girl’s heart, and set a broken man on the path to heal them both.
To some, Willa may seem like an insecure doormat, but that was not the case for me. To those people, I feel like they didn't truly look at the heart of Willa and see her inner strength.
She has had it bad for playboy bartender Jackson Page for nine long years. She has watched from the sidelines as he executed his sinful moves and threw down his best lines on every willing woman he took an interest in, all the while Willa chose to save herself for him. She let him have his fun, sew his wild oats, and patiently waited for him to be ready for something real. Willa wanted to be REAL for Jackson. She wanted him to see her as the type of woman who would be there for the long haul, never abandoning him like so many other people in his life have done. Her patience and maturity was a huge part of her inner strength. She knew what she wanted and she was willing to wait for the right moment, to share her feelings with the one man she always knew was right for her...Jackson Page.
That sort of determination, to be true to herself, took tremendous strength. Willa was quiet person of character and values, and I admired that about her. She was no doormat.
The timid blond girl who had gone unnoticed for so long, had suddenly appeared on Jackson's radar and there was no shaking her. All of a sudden a blind man had regained his sight, and his sights were set on Willa Doon. The problem? Jackson has forgotten that he set his sights on Willa once before, but then developed amnesia. Now? Willa has reached her breaking point. Her patience has long since worn thin and she has no time for Jackson and his eager pursuit of her. The timid blonde bombshell is moving on without him! I loved this! Willa most definitely had a backbone and some serious sass to boot. She made Jackson work for her attention and her time, which was a whole new experience for him. The charm didn't work like it used to, not on Willa. I reveled in watching Jackson pursue Willa, and delighted in Willa getting to see a side of Jackson that no other woman ever had. She deserved that from him and so much more! I also loved that Willa's tenacity took him down a peg or two in the process, making him grovel and chase her for her time. It did him a world of good and he was a better man for it in the long run. Ultimately, proving to Willa that he would always be the one and only man for her; deserving or not, she was never getting rid of him. Jackson was hooked!
Their journey was not exactly an easy one. Jackson has had a difficult life, and managed to piece together a "family" with Thea and Hazel. He was not convinced that he had it in him to commit to marriage and children. He never had a good example of what that would look like. This is where I loved Willa's strength. While it was Jackson who appeared gruff at times, solid, secure, and strong...it was really Willa who had the roots that ran deep. She would not give in, not give up, and not be deterred. Everything she said, and everything she did demonstrated to Jackson the magnitude of her feelings for him, eventually convincing him that she would always love him, and never leave him.
Jackson was the one who needed reassurance and saving, not Willa. Willa knew her mind and her heart adamantly.
This book explores the concept of family and marriage, forgiveness, and friendship. We get to see lots of Thea, Hazel, Charley and Logan, while also becoming acquainted with Sheriff McGee, and Willa's parents Betty and Nate who were total hoots! There were plenty of laughs with these characters, and plenty of heat between Jackson and Willa. Their sexy times are bound to melt some Kindles!
I can't blame Willa one bit for waiting on Jackson....lucky, lucky girl!
Another great story that you won't soon forget. Feels that stay with you long after the final page!
Highly recommend you meet the small town people of Lark Cove and fall in love.
Devney Perry writes MUST READ romance!!
Willa is a calm reserved young woman who has eyed the "bad boy" for years.
He finally truly sees her, fitting into her life better than he thought he would.
He doesn't push or try to hard. The characters and relationship is well written as is most Devney's books.
This April read of hers was a fun, light easy read.
This was a great story, very angsty, but enjoyable.
This story really was super sweet, a little too sweet I think for my tastes, which I am shocked that I'm saying that since I'm not the biggest fan of over-the-top angst. But this one needed a bit more angst, I think. The biggest drama happening wasn't between Jackson and Willa but other characters that provided the suspense and had me flipping the pages to see how it all turned out.
Overall, as I mentioned above, I enjoyed Willa and Jackson's story. I was so happy to see Jackson finally find an eternal and unconditional love that he never had before. And Willa's dreams all came true, so it was a win win. Looking forward to continuing the series!

After years of crushing on him, Willa has a moment where she thinks he may feel the same. One night it felt like they were getting somewhere only to have him forget that moment.
He may not remember what happened between them but he starts to feel that pull between them and decides it may be time to explore it. I LOVE the fact that Willa made him work for it. She stands her ground and feels like they may not be a good fit after all but thankfully he doesn’t give up so easy.
This story has a lot of push and pull along with the angst of how Jackson grew up and his family problems. I’m as not expecting all those twists and turns but all that matters is our characters found their happiness. The found family trope is so strong within the first two books. I can’t wait to continue this series.
