Fans Are Calling Sonic's New Menu Item Its Best Yet

The fast food chain Sonic might be best known for its wildly flexible drink menu and nugget ice, but there are plenty of items on the menu (and the secret menu) that deserve some time in the spotlight. Recently, Sonic released a new menu item that’s getting plenty of attention for one main reason—it’s downright delicious.

The brand recently started selling Buffalo Chicken Dip Bites, featuring a mixture of chicken, Buffalo sauce, and melted cheddar cheese encased in a dough wrapper that’s fried and crispy. People on social media are comparing them to dumplings, ravioli, and mini empanadas thanks to their shape and crimped edges. Tiktoker @theshayspence said, “It really tasted like buffalo chicken dip in a little ravioli.” A commenter on the video said, “Looks like a Buffalo chicken deep fried pierogi.”

On a Reddit thread discussing the new product, a Reddit user gave the bites a rave review. “I tried these for lunch today and they were fantastic. Crispy, almost wonton-like exterior, mildly spicy buffalo-sauced shredded chicken inside. Overall, each bite is fairly small so it makes more of a side than a main unless you order the largest size, but they're delicious.”

The bites don’t come with a default dipping sauce—you’ll need to request a sauce if you’re a dipper. As of now, the bites are only available for early access through the Sonic app and online ordering. The brand hasn’t spent much time promoting the new product (the exception being one fairly vague Instagram post), but based on early customer reviews, we could see this new menu item becoming a fan favorite quickly thanks to word of mouth.
