Surat is ‘best city’ in India Smart Cities Contest

Ahmedabad bags 1st position in Smart City leadership and 3rd for smart parking project ‘Amdapark’ in urban mobility category

Surat has bagged the ‘best city’ award for the third consecutive year under India Smart Cities Contest 2020, which is held by Centre’s Ministry of Urban Housing and Urban Affairs to promote and develop smart cities across India. Indore too bagged the best award along with Surat for its overall performance in 2020.
Surat was awarded based on its performance in setting up SMAC centre, intelligent transit management system, automatic fare collection system, Surat money card, model road as well as solar and wind energy generation.
Commenting on the achievement, SMC Commissioner Banchhanidhi Pani said, “Surat is ahead on several parameters when it comes to implementing smart city projects. We are focussing on data analytics and our aim is to make Surat data-driven city.”

Smart parking app
Ahmedabad bagged the first position in Smart City leadership and third position in urban mobility for smart parking project — Amdapark. It is India’s first ever public smart parking app which provides people to conveniently search, book, pay and park their vehicles at various parking locations across the city.
