TeamGroup teases T-Force Z54A PCIe Gen5 SSD with up to 14 GB/s read speed

TeamGroup and InnoGrit developed the world’s fastest PCIe Gen5 SSD

Most storage companies are focusing on 10 GB/s+ read speeds, but TeamGroup gets one step closer to the limits of PCIe Gen5.

The Intel Alder Lake platform was ready for Gen5 SSDs in 2021, but the next-gen storage only started to appear by the end of last year. The launch of the AMD AM5 platform made it no longer necessary to wait.

The T-Force Z54A PCIe Gen5 SSD takes things to a new level by offering read and write speeds up to 14,000 MB/s and 10,000 MB/s. This was possible thanks to the new controllers from InnoGrit, while most commercially available Gen5 SSDs are based on Phison E26, which delivers anything between 10-12 GB/s read speeds. The 12nm IG5666 controller is not something we have seen on any other storage product yet, so such claims still need to be verified.

The announcement of the Z54A SSD is part of TeamGroup’s Computex series of announcements. This product was showcased alongside The company’s new Siren Duo AIO cooler for the CPU and SSD. It is unclear if this means that to achieve those speeds, such a cooler is required, but given what we know about Gen5 heat and coolers, it seems unreasonable to expect such performance without any sort of cooling.

T-FORCE offers the most comprehensive heat-sink solutions for the M.2 SSD, tailored for the heat sinks of the ultra-fast Gen5 PCIe SSD. The circular AIO liquid cooling systems with a Taiwanese invention patent (I778726) bring a group of high-level computer users the solution to the problem of low speed caused by the high-temperature operation of the PCIe M.2 SSDs. The solution that the T-FORCE M.2 SSD brings has the ability to perfectly release performance and extend the lifespan of SSDs. It is the product of the SSD heat sink that brings the benefit of saving power to the new generation.

Through cooperation with InnoGrit Corporation, we adopted the 12nm PCIe IG5666 controller. This controller features high performance, high reliability, high stability, and low delay, supporting various mainstream NAND speeds up to 2,400 MT/s. The InnoGrit IG5666 controller is equipped with a pioneering code-correction technique that extends the lifetime of NAND. In the meantime, this controller also has a decoder for low-power mode, which can automatically switch to the mode to extend the lifetime and sustainable data of working. The InnoGrit IG5666 controller collects the AI algorithm for temperature data developed by InnoGrit Corporation, providing extraordinary multitasking performance.

The company did not provide any further details, such as full product specs, availability, or pricing. However, it is likely that more information will be shared at Comptuex next week.
