Crucial T700 PCIe Gen5 SSD
Crucial is working on a next-gen storage solution based on the PCIe Gen5 standard.

The adoption of PCIe 5.0 technology is much slower than most enthusiasts would have expected. Storage companies promised to double the transfer speeds compared to Gen4 storage, but this will take months if not years before we start seeing such SSDs available. In fact, even 16 months since the introduction of the first Gen5 capable desktop platform, the availability of Gen5 storage is still very limited.
With no PCIe Gen5 graphics cards in sight (with an exception to the Chinese MTT series), the only thing that consumers can now look for is storage. We covered quite a few solutions being released to the market in the past 2 months, which is a sign that the Gen5 revolution has only just started.
It appears that another brand is to join the fight for the highest transfer speeds soon. Same as other Gen5 SSDs, the Crucial T700 is based on Phison E26 controller, and it will ship with a heatsink. At least in this case this cooling is much smaller and there is no noisy fan installed (like on Inland SSD). So if this storage reaches advertised speeds without active cooling, that’s already a big win.

According to the tweet from LinusTechTips who were given a speak peek, the storage reaches 12422 MB/s of sequential read speed and 11858 MB/s in write test by CrystalDiskMark software.
It is unclear which platform was used to test the storage, but this could be either Intel 600, 700 or AMD 600 series motherboards. The latter offers full support without sacrificing the speed of the main PCIe Gen5 slot for GPU, which is sadly the case with Intel.
