Once Upon a Word: A New Word-Origin Kids Book from the Creator of Useless Etymology

I wrote a book about etymology! It’s called ONCE UPON A WORD: A WORD-ORIGIN DICTIONARY  FOR KIDS.

This book is targeted at kids ages 9-13, but any word enthusiast can learn something from it, including fun facts about language and the origins of words from “adventure” and “alchemy” to “synonym” and “unanimous.” It was largely inspired by the information on this blog.

It also contains lovely illustrations by Marco Marella, including an incredible language tree.

It’s currently available for preorder at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and IndieBound. Please grab a copy today!

Check out some of the great illustrations and a sneak-peak of some of the entries below, and learn more about what’s inside here.
