Kraftbeton - 8914 Heavy Freight Locomotive

Description

Kraftbeton - 8914 is a heavy-duty diesel-electric freight locomotive designed for pulling heavy cargo over long distances. Both external and internal looks of the Kraftbeton is engineered with 1950's Art Deco & 1960's Brutalistic architecture, this gives Kraftbeton an aesthetically pleasing look and practicality. Thanks to it's EMD 16V265H prime mover, double generators and four electric motors Kraftbeton is both highly efficient and powerful. This locomotive is also equipped with EOS/ESS master & slave system and it is fully compatible with EOS.

Do not use infinite electricity & fuel with this creation.

Even though Kraftbeton is a fictional locomotive, it is equipped with realistic components, these are;

  • Master / Slave system (EOS/ESS)
  • Dynamics
  • EMD 16V265H prime mover
  • Diesel engine > Generator > electric motors drivetrain
  • Air horn & bells
  • D-D layout trucks
  • Both long hood forwad & short hood forward operation
  • Rolling Stock brakes
  • External power output (fed by the main generators) to power up small towns, heavy equipments and etc.
  • Radio
  • Detailed paneling

Top speed (without load): 300km/h - 186mp/h
Range: 1600km - 1000miles at max throttle
Maximum load: pulls 128.000 units of weight at 57.5km/h - 35.7mp/h
Length: 24 meters - 78.7 feet
Width: 3.25 meters - 10.6 feet
Height: 4.5 meters - 14.7 feet

  • Access the cab from the short hood side, pull yourself onto the locomotive by the handles
  • Flip the main power breaker (right side)
  • Turn the "Engine Run" switch on (just next to the main breaker)
  • Turn the "Dynamics Cut-In" switch (optional, turn it on if you want regenerative brakes)
  • Turn the "Fuel & Air Pumps" & "Radiators" switches on (located to the left of the door in the middle)
  • Hit the "Engine On" button.
  • Sit in the "Engineer" seat and activate your lights according to your direction (long hood forward or short hood forwad)
  • Use the "Reverser" to go long hood forward or short hood forward (3 means long hood forward, 2 means neutral, 1 means short hood forward)
  • Throttle up with W/S or use the Throttle (Dynamics starts after -0.1)
  • Use independent brakes to brake (will operate locomotive's brakes)
  • Hold "Space" to activate emergency brakes (will brake at maximum capacity, can be tapped to slow down at low speeds in yard)
  • Hold "1" to activate the air horn

Master & Slave system enables you to connect more locomotives to the train and operate them all from a single locomotive to pull even more heavy loads. Kraftbeton - 8914 uses the latest version of the ESS master&slave system.

  • Connect desired amount of locomotives (equipped with ESS)
  • Turn the "Main Power Breaker" on each locomotive
  • Do not turn on the "Engine Run" switch on the slave locomotives
  • Enter your desired teleop frequency to the keypad on each locomotive
  • Activate the "Receive From Radio" button on each slave locomotive
  • Turn on the engine on each locomotive
  • Switch the reverser to "3" on every slave locomotive (no need to change when going backwards or running short hood forward just keep it in 3 all the time)
  • Turn on the "Engine Run" switch on the master locomotive
  • Slave locomotives now should mimic the controls of the master locomotive

Terminology:

Master - Master locomotive, the main locomotive that controls them all
Slave - a locomotive controlled by the master locomotive
Engine Run - Turns the current locomotive into master
Long hood forward - current forward direction is now pointing at the longer of the two hoods
Short hood forward - current forward direction is now pointing at the shorter of the two hoods
Dynamics - Regenerative breaking, throttling down into the negative values while on the move will engage a flywheel and generate electricity
Reverser - forward, neutral or backward direction selector
Independent brakes - brakes on the locomotive itself
Rolling stock brakes - brakes on the railroad cars
Isolate engine - will isolate the engine from the generators, in this state engine will continue to run but it will be disengaged from the generators
