Bold & Beautiful’s Setting Up Big Drama For Steffy/Finn — Plus, What’s Up With Zende?

Y’all know how much I love when Bold & Beautiful tells two stories (or more!) at the same time. While we didn’t have a whole lot of forward movement in any of the plots, we did get both a few fun new clues in the “Who’s Luna’s daddy?” saga and a few exploding heads as word of Thomas and Hope’s engagement spread. Oh, and we definitely need to talk about Zende, so let’s get this ball rolling, shall we?

“Are You My Father?”

I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating: Bold & Beautiful has done a great job of taking a story we were all rolling our eyes at and turning it into something far more than we expected. I’m still not entirely convinced that at the end of the day, Bill won’t be revealed as Luna’s dad. But when Finn revealed that Poppy had stayed with his family “about a year” before Luna was born, that certainly got my attention!

More: A new storyline for Wyatt?

Yes, we’d already theorized that perhaps Jack was Luna’s dad. But then came that odd episode-capping scene in which Poppy was staring at Finn through a partially open door. “Hold up,” I thought. “Are they hinting that Finn might actually be Luna’s dad?!?”

Now that would put the twist in “plot twist,” wouldn’t it?

Bring On The Drama!

Finn being Luna’s dad would be a fantastic twist and an interesting way of shaking things up. I’ve long complained that we know absolutely nothing about Finn’s past, so this would potentially be a way of helping to fill that void. Plus, it would give everyone something to talk about other than how awesome it is that he saved Eric. Yes, yes, we’re all grateful… but we’re to the point where conversations sound sorta like this:

Ridge Finn Steffy B&B

FINN: Steffy, could you pass the salt?
STEFFY: Anything for the man who saved my grandfather!
RIDGE: Here, take the pepper, too! Nothing is too good for you, Finn!
FINN: You know, Bridget helped…
STEFFY: Whatever.
RIDGE: You da man!

Steffy and Finn are overdue for some juicy drama, and it definitely seems to be coming down the pike. The looks she shot her hubby when he again made it clear how concerned he is about Hope did not go unnoticed. Should he turn out to be Luna’s dad, it’s easy to see him trying to make up for lost years by spending time with her and Poppy which, yeah, would eventually ruffle Steffy’s feathers.

And lest anyone forget, Liam’s still lurking out there, lookin’ for a storyline…

Murder, He Said

I guess we’re done with the whole “Xander said Thomas killed Emma” thing. I’m not sure exactly what the point was, other than to give Hope a reason to hesitate before slipping that ring on her finger. Xander seems to have changed medical providers and opted to forget that whole “Justice For Emma” idea.

I wish Xander would have gone to Justin (or at least mentioned him). Let’s not forget that for a while there, Justin held Thomas captive in the basement of Spencer publications so that he could take over Bill’s company. Then again, given that the plot made absolutely no sense — how long did Justin think he could get away with that? — maybe it’s best forgotten, along with his short-term deal to help Ridge.

Man, this show drops a lot of plotlines, doesn’t it?

The Ring of Truth

We all know that Hope is going to accept Thomas’ proposal, so perhaps we can just move on with it? I will say that no matter how I or anyone else feels about this particular pairing, they sure to generate a whole lot of heat. It almost makes it worth sitting through endless conversations about that ring being next to her heart, where it belongs, or him being a changed man.

Hope Thomas B&B

Given the mixed messages Hope’s sending, if she does reject Thomas’ proposal, I’d kinda be ok with him going all DT (Dark Thomas) on her.

Meanwhile, At the Malibu Dream House

Xende’s temper tantrums feel like what they are: a total plot point. They make no sense whatsoever. The dude’s been a designer for years (and has mostly lived on his grandfather’s estate), so he should certainly have enough money to rent himself a beach house should he so choose.

RJ Luna Zende B&B

The show actually came dangerously close (in the best way possible) to having Zende say, “It’s because I’m the literal Black sheep of the family, isn’t it?” At least he mentioned having been born in Africa and adopted by Kristen and Tony. But because the writers won’t full-on play that beat, Zende instead comes off as a spoiled brat.

Random Thoughts

• Why does everybody keep acting as if Eric choose R.J. to help with his collection because of the young man’s talent? Dude was in the right spot at the wrong time and found out his grandfather was ailing. Eric basically asked R.J. to help him hold his pencil. Yes, it later turned into something more, but that’s how it started.

• Why doesn’t Zende have it in for Thomas? That’s who came in and took over Hope For the Future after the line Zende helped create tanked. Funny that he doesn’t seem interested in taking ownership of that particular fiasco!

• I’d kinda love a moment where Brooke and Steffy acknowledge how weird it is that they find themselves on the same side where Hope’s engagement is concerned. Sure, they have different reasons for not wanting to see it happen, but they’re still in agreement.

As Black history month kicks off, join us in looking back on some of the most influential African-American characters to ever hit daytime… including a Bold & Beautiful alum we desperately want to see return
