Description
Bowman’s Root has white star shaped flowers that are loosely petaled. they grow off of mahogany stems and shave showy red petioles. Flowers can have tinges or pink and occasionally even be light pink. It is a nice compact, bushy plant that colonizes through rhizomes and forms nice tight clumps. Trifoliate leaves turn red in the fall along with decorative seed heads make it a lovely plant to with great fall interest. Average to moist soil but tolerant of drier conditions once established. Medicinal uses. It is unpalatable to most mammals including deer and rabbits. Threatened species in OH although widely used in other parts of the world.
