Fist fights are officially recognized as a sport in Russia

The general secretary of the Russian Boxing Federation, Kirill Shchekutyev, announced the creation of a department of fist fights - now they have become an official sports discipline in the Russian Federation.

“In addition to Olympic boxing, we decided to put things in order in other areas. We started with professional boxing. And in the last two or three years in Russia, as well as around the world, fistfights have begun to gain popularity. In fact, this is primordially ours, Russian discipline. Therefore, we decided that it was the Russian Boxing Federation that should take control of this whole story. Make clear regulations, create medical requirements, organize the title of champion of Russia, and so on. From December 1, we will license promoters, organize competitions and so on," Shchekutev said.
