The Seizin Press was established in Hammersmith in London in 1928 by Laura Riding and Robert Graves as a private press. Vyvyan Richards showed the two how to advertise and print to get their business started. The Seizin Press tried to publish all authors of different genres and ideas. Seizin means “possession” so Laura Riding wanted the press to be named Seizin Press so that authors would take advantage of their own creative liberties.

The first edition of the press, Seizin One, in 1928 and there were 175 circulating copies. Seizin Two was published the following year with 225 copies. It featured Gertrude Stein. Seizin Three featured Robert Graves and there were also 225 copies even though this is the shortest of all the editions. The Seizin Press also published a number of books, as listed below.
