Yes, Fancy Sprinkles are fancy—here's why

Delightful, delicious, and worth the splurge

Is there anything more universally celebratory than sprinkles? Whatever you're celebrating—a holiday, birthday, or baby shower—crowning your dessert with colorful sprinkles makes it extra special.

From cookies to ice cream and cake to cocktails, all sweet things are more festive with sprinkles. Of course, you can buy a tub of standard sprinkles at the grocery store, but experience tells us that doing so won't always get you the best, or even good, toppings.

What are Fancy Sprinkles?

We tried some Fancy Sprinkles products to decorate delicious desserts in sparkly, creative ways.

The obvious answer to the question may be "sprinkles that are fancy," but when we recently had the chance to try Fancy Sprinkles (proper noun), we found that these Fancy Sprinkles are far more than just fancy.

The company set out to revolutionize edible art with everything from sprinkles and colored sugar to melting candies to food coloring. The focus is on-trend products that are fun and easy to use.

Sprinkles, edible glitters, and all forms of confectionary decorations are sold individually and in convenient kits with accessories. Decorating kits feature different combinations of supplies that make it easy to complete a project as soon as you open the package.

The sprinkles themselves come in a wide variety of textures and colors, often featuring fun and unique shapes. For instance, the Easter-themed sprinkles include little bunnies and sunshines while Unicorn Barf features tiny gold unicorn horns. Many varieties contain tiny stars and multi-sized baubles. There's a type of sprinkle for just about any theme you can dream of.

What can you do with Fancy Sprinkles?

Sprinkle, of course

Left: Bowls and jars of colorful Fancy Sprinkles on a marble counter. Right: Heart-shaped chocolates covered in sprinkles, being sprayed with glitter powder.

The variety of sprinkles fuels decorating creativity and Fancy Sprinkles provides the tools to make it easy.

The options are literally endless. In addition to the Bunny Side Up sprinkles that come in the chocolate egg kit, we tried the Deluxe Rainbow Crunchy Jimmies, Wanderlust sprinkles, Enchanted sugar, and White Nonpareils.

We put some melting chocolate into tiny heart molds and then dipped the tops in all the different sprinkle varieties. The sprinkles all adhered perfectly, were easy to work with, and elevated our creations to an irresistible level.

Glam up your favorite sweet treats

With tools from Fancy Sprinkles, you don't have to sacrifice glam with homemade desserts.

In addition to a huge variety of sprinkles, Fancy Sprinkles also sells edible glitter and all the supplies you need to apply it to any sweet treat you can think of.

We dipped strawberries in chocolate for a Valentine's dessert, and dressed them up with sparkly edible glitter. A light coating gives the chocolate a shimmering gleam that's instantly eye-catching and elegant.

Plus, it's fun to apply with the brush set, which makes easy work of decorating with the various types of edible glitter and sparkly powder. Kids (and grownups, for that matter) will be very excited to see what kind of designs they can create with chocolate as a canvas.

We adults are also looking forward to trying the sugars and powders to decorate cocktails for our next grown-up gathering.

Choose a festive decorating kit

The Fancy Sprinkles Hatched Chocolate Egg decorating kit comes with everything needed to make chocolate egg shells. We added brownies to fill the eggs like cake pops.

Fancy Sprinkles offers kits that inspire everything from colorful cake pops to tie-dye birthday pancakes, plus an array of holiday-themed kits on constant rotation.

We tried the Easter-themed Hatched Chocolate Egg Decorating Kit, and it came with everything needed to produce pretty chocolate eggs with sprinkle decorations: The silicone mold, melting candy, themed sprinkles, sparkly powder, and glittery cake-pop sticks to keep the whole experience in the fancy realm.

The Easy Candy chocolate-flavored melting candy comes in a piping bag, so all we had to do was heat it in the microwave and pipe it into the egg molds. No mess and no stress—if the candy cooled too much it was easy enough to reheat until it flowed freely again.

We filled the molds with brownies and pastel jelly beans, and sealed them in with more melted chocolate. The chocolate hardened quickly so there wasn't a lot of waiting around, and the kids had a ball decorating the eggs with the sprinkles and glitter.

Use accessories to make it easy

The tools of the trade—Fancy Sprinkles accessories make decorating easier and less messy.

The sparkly Prism Powder can be brushed onto confections, as we did with our strawberries, or funneled into a small pump that easily "sprays" it on your creations, keeping little hands from spreading the edible glitter far and wide.

There are also micro-dosing spoons that make it easy to scoop and sprinkle everything more precisely. By using the melted chocolate as glue, we were able to make our own sprinkle designs on Easter eggs and Valentine's chocolates.

How do Fancy Sprinkles taste?

Fancy Sprinkles not only add a beautiful element to desserts, they add a delicious one too.

After all of the creating and decorating was done, it was time to taste—and that's when we were even more impressed.

These may be called Fancy Sprinkles but they could also be called delicious sprinkles, because they are. No cardboard flavor here. The kids gobbled up the sprinkled tester chocolates so fast, we couldn't even get a photo of them eating.

The Bunny Side Up Easter sprinkles have some citrus flavor, while the rest feature crunchy sweetness. Unlike lesser-quality sprinkles, these taste of real sugar, without any fake or off-putting flavors.

Even the "chocolate-flavored" Easy Candy is tasty. It's not as rich as regular chocolate, but it's just as good as any other candy melts, and it's even more convenient in the heat-and-use piping bag.

Should you buy Fancy Sprinkles?
