why gabriella montez is the worst character in high school musical

Hey guys, welcome back to Rehmy Diaries. For those that have been here before, you know how serious I take my blog posts and how I only like to talk about the topics that really matter. So with that in mind, today I’ve decided to talk about something that I’m honestly very passionate about but just have always been skeptical when it came to writing it down. But I’ve decided to be brave enough to talk about something that’s been playing on my mind since I was a little girl.

Gabriella Montez is the WORST character in High School Musical. Tbh, people complain about how she wasn’t supportive of Troy’s career in the second film but she does so much more than that!

Let’s talk this through film by film.

High School Musical:

On her first day at East High she’s got everyone thinking she’s this sweet innocent nerd but she literally made a sarcastic comment about Sharpay’s signature?? Sorry but you’ve been in this school for like 5 minutes and you’re already here being snarky?

THEN, when she wanted to audition for the Spring Musicale, she literally waited till the teacher gave said that they were OVER to go waltzing into the hall being like omggg i wanna sing tooooo! Why would you stand there in the corner and wait till she literally got up and packed her bag before you ask to audition? It wasn’t even like she was running late she waited til it was too late? Um attention seeking much!!!

Then she came running late for the call back which fine fair enough you were somewhere before but you could’ve taken your lab coat off?? Sharpay and Ryan had props and costumes and a dance number and you just ran in with your grandma shoes and lab coat? Btw, she literally put everyone’s lives at risk with that chemical experiment to get there? How selfish.

She made such a big deal about wanting to be a part of this show and then she freezes up on stage and decides to have a full conversation with Troy while the whole audience just stands there waiting for you? Like at least go to the back, you clearly want everyone to see you so you get MORE ATTENTION!

HSM 2:

Ok so I don’t even need to speak on this too much cos we all know what a brat she was being when she got all upset with Troy for getting opportunities. The worst thing she said was ‘I’m not interested in what you think you’re doing for Troy, that’s between you and him. But you’re messing with my friends and my summer. And that’s not ok with me”

Umm ok sis?? not only are you making Troy feel bad for getting career, you also don’t actually care? Let’s refer to the song Gotta Go My Own way when she sings ‘what about us? what about ME?’ and Troy’s like ‘what am I supposed to do??’ WHAT IS HE SUPPOSED TO DO? What do you actually want? I know what you want Gabriella Montez. You want ATTENTION.

HSM 3:

Gabriella gets an opportunity to go to a really good uni and at early admission and she wants to stay in her dead town for her boyfriend. As if phones, the Internet and school holidays don’t exist… How can you be that dumb? What kind of message is that? Girls, lil bit of advice. Never, ever, ever give up a sweet opporunity for some boy. Like obvs if you’re married with kids and a house that’s different but for your high school bae? No.

Also, it’s not fair that she keeps getting the lead for songs just cos she’s friends with the composer. Sharpay and Ryan train and work so hard for these shows. They’re trying to actually make it in show biz and these roles will help them so much but you give them to GAB because she’s your mate?

She also made everyone be a part of the show even though no one wanted to and then last minute was like btw I can’t make it but have soo much fun! x

THEN when she does turn up, late, AGAIN, she gets all the attention and credit even though everyone else (esp Sharpay and Ryan) put so much more work into the show???

I just realised that Gabriella is not actually the worst character because Kelsey exists but she’s a close second. And she’s tied with Taylor who does nothing but cause drama and put these negative thoughts in her head throughout the entire series.
