Tolls on the Atlantic City Expressway have increased for the new year.
The biggest toll remains at the Egg Harbor plaza near Exit 17, which rises from $4.55 per car paying cash to $4.70, or $3.01 for those paying via E-ZPass.
Tolls at the Pleasantville plaza have risen to $1.40 via cash or 95 cents via E-ZPass. The same rates apply at the toll plazas at the Route 9 ramps. The toll plazas at the ramps near Atlantic City International Airport are $1.40 via cash or 84 cents via E-ZPass.
The South Jersey Transportation Authority, which oversees the expressway, approved a $154.8 million 2024 budget that includes a 3% toll increase tied to inflation.
Officials held a groundbreaking ceremony in October for an $80 million, all-electronic tolling project meant to improve traffic flow and limit crashes on the expressway. The SJTA approved a 15-year, $159.3 million contract with TransCore LP, of Nashville, Tennessee, to build and manage the tolling system. Officials have said the contract was to be covered by $500 million accumulated from recent toll increases.
