i actually wanted to make a fan-design for artemis since before she was even mentioned as a character in the series! the only change i’ve made to the concept since act 2 ep. 3 is using she/her pronouns for her instead of they/them, which i had originally referred to her with.

more design ramblings under the cut

i picked a bear (specifically a sun bear) for artemis for a number of reasons. first of all, apollo is the god of the sun and artemis is the goddess of the moon. wolves are often associated with the moon, and sun bears have sun in the name so i thought it would be fun to have their species reference each other like that. however the main reason i made artemis specifically a bear was because i believed she would represent teddy to extent (this seems to be true, given the newest episodes) and ahaha… teddy bear. get it?

artemis is fat because 1. she’s a bear duh, 2. i thought it would be a nice contrast to apollo being so thin (in places where they aren’t fucking ripped anyway), and 3. i wanted to give her fat rolls and stretch marks to add detail to her body similar to how apollo’s muscles and boniness add detail to theirs!

her hair is on the short side cause i wanted to try to give her kinda a butch haircut without totally ignoring the luscious anime-hair vibes apollo has got going on. artemis is a mythical figure i heavily associate with lesbians, so it just feels natural.
