Hi! Basically, Shane Morris is a horrible person. He is an extremely misogynistic, violent, classist, bullying, disgusting excuse for a human, who has done so many unspeakable things on the internet that I can’t even list them all. (Read this masterpost for a brief taste!)

But anyway, Shane managed to hide all of his horrifying tendencies from Ryan and Ryan’s entire friend group (who are a cool, accepting, generally non-problematic group of people and obviously would not tolerate such behavior if they knew it existed).
He also impersonated Ryan on Twitter for a long time (which is why Ryan’s Twitter bio STILL says “Nope. it wasn’t me.”) until Ryan found out and tried to officially cut him out of his life. The last time they saw each other in person was apparently 2013 (before the Twitter hacking!), for the record.
But even after that, Shane was not done ruining everything. He leaked Ryan’s song “At Your Window” in 2014 after pretending that Ryan’s Facebook account was hacked (which, you know, Ryan would be worried about) and then began impersonating Ryan on Facebook. Ryan, being anti-Internet after the catfishing drama, did not find out about the Facebook thing until someone told Z about it in 2016.
Since then, Shane has also deleted Ryan’s Soundcloud page and started multiple horrible, unsubstantiated rumors about Ryan over the years (such as: Ryan is a drug addict, Ryan needs rehab, Ryan is transphobic, etc.) to ruin his career and alienate his fans.
So… yeah. That’s why you’ll often see his name written as Sh**e. He really is that triggering for people. D:

I’ve never read THROAM, so I can’t speak for that. But you’re absolutely right that Shane Valdez is a different person.

Shane Valdez was one of Brendon’s best friends around the time of Pretty. Odd. and an aspiring filmmaker. He documented their Honda Civic Tour in 2008 through several YouTube videos and the In the Days mini-documentary.
But it turns out that all Panic-related Shanes are horrible people. Shane Valdez stole over a hundred thousand dollars from Brendon, pretending that he was using the money to make a documentary. So needless to say, Brendon doesn’t talk to him anymore.
