THE BLESSEDNESS OF BEING A WORKER

I know many times we have heard that line ” workers don’t really get blessed” and you have been trying to unpack it as I have done severally. (I remember a fellowship we -hubs and I- attended many years ago as a prayer leaders. We were dating at the time. Every prayer point we raised on behalf of others got answered except ours. One fellowship day, we both decided we weren’t going for prayers because it doesn’t seem like God was listening to us so we had better not waste our dry saliva😃. I would complete the gist another time.

I still remember it like yesterday. People were telling us to thank you for being a blessing, thank you for being a blessing but we weren’t seeing answers to ours. We legit got tired and discouraged). As the highly observational and reflective weirdo who reflects a lot, pondering on outright weird things(things within the purview of a spiritual being), I thought to put this out there. We are encouraged not to question God but we really can ask Him questions. The two are different. R.e.a.d i.t s.l.o.w.l.y.

The Jesus Workforce

Let’s look at Jesus’ workforce- THE 12 disciples. Most workers fall in the parameters of Dylan- the well diggers (please find my post on T.H.E W.E.L.L). The disciples of Jesus are a workforce that needs to be studied. They had their moments of grumbling whilst following Jesus, banters, arguments with others, skepticism at instructions, and even offense. Anyone could have also said the disciples didn’t get any miracles like ordinary people that had huge testimonies from following Jesus and that’s because what Jesus desired to accomplish in them was beyond miracles. He desired to see them TRANSFORMED.

  • The grumbles were necessary
  • The arguments were important.
  • The offense was needed
  • The complaints were intentional.
  • To work on them
  • To texture their hearts
  • To chisel them.
  • To mold them to become and learn how to handle real-life situations and people as an anointed

A closer look on the Jesus Workforce

What the average person in the workforce faces while serving are the daily real-life situations that others may not be facing. Hence, if a worker records a milestone testimony, it is actually worth celebrating. They pulled the curtains, stamped on the offenses, loved through the hurts, flew over the obstacles, and walk through the thorns of service to cart that trophy. In those 3 years of following Jesus, omouex, na only Peter get the testimony of healing for his mother-in-law. Watagwan?

He, Jesus, kept repeating the miracles in front of them because he knew at some point they would be the ones duplicating them. In those 3 years, the disciples had real struggles, real battles, real issues, sincere doubts, and genuine questions. They couldn’t keep to the spiritual standard of watching with me for 1hr- they failed Jesus when He needed them most. Dudes were sleeping away their destiny in Gethsemane as some would interpret it.

They slept off during an encounter with Jesus on the mountain of transfiguration- Ha! They missed a Kairos. How can Moses, Elisha, and Jesus be having conversations while Jesus’ associates were sleeping heavily? Not one single disciple was awake to document it That thing still dey pain sha. Abi, who knows what they discussed?

They deserted Him at His lowest moments. Their minds could comprehend how the same man who wrought miracles couldn’t save himself. (Their understanding was growing) One of his main guys, Peter, even denied him thrice under 12hrs. Peter dissociated himself from the scandal. Like even you Peter, you did this to me? Jesus didn’t curse him o. Peter was the first person he asked for when he was resurrected. See love na. Rhythms of a heart of love for someone who denied you. (Jesus, please help me!)

But guess what?

With all these weaknesses, they still got transformed. They carried the exact same oil Jesus carried and they were able to replicate those same miracles that looked so far away from them. When the Holy Spirit came during Pentecost, their heart was prepared to carry the oil. They were being trained to be Dylans and not Denalyns.

Dear worker, I know it may seem like you don’t have landmark testimonies like others but the disciples can be an encouragement to you. The greatest miracle in their lives was TRANSFORMATION. Every process they went through, even the ones they failed at, made them more and more like Jesus. They rose to the level they could duplicate whatever Jesus was doing.

They weren’t feeding off wells

They became very well diggers.

They became JESUS.

That is the greatest miracle.

(I know you are experiencing miracles already but perhaps not at the level you desire. Keep at it. Keep pressing in. Keep pressing on)

Blessings.
