Marlin G. Meek, II
November 14, 1952 - June 6, 2019
Marlin G. Meek, II

"Beanie", 66, died in FL, June 6, with his wife Barbara at his side. Born November 14, 1952, in Windber, PA; son of Marlin G. and Mary (Helman) Meek. Preceded in death by his father; great-nephew Trevor; mother- and father -in-laws, Marianne and Rudy Mayercsik; and beloved dog, Scotty. Survived by wife of 40 years, Barbara (Mayercsik); mother; sisters, Deborah Meek, and Rebecca (William Jack) Dick, all of FL; and brother-in-law Frank Mayercsik of PA. Also survived by 4 nieces/nephews; 9 great- nieces/nephews, including Godson William Edwin Dick, all of FL. Marlin graduated from Windber HS, received BA from PA CA State College, Graduate Mortician from Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, passed Boards for both PA and FL State Funeral Directors, and was certified for Eye Enucleation from U of Pitt School of Medicine. Served as PA Somerset County Deputy Coroner for several years; and previously active with many Windber organizations. Fourth generation to own/operate Meek Funeral Home, Windber. He later purchased and operated Marron Funeral Home, and built All Faiths Mausoleum, Windber. He loved operating a business that put service and comfort of others first. He retired to enjoy remainder of life with his wife and canine daughter, Scotty; and created many loving memories traveling with their plane or boat. Loved socializing with many friends who ultimately became family. He was a certified scuba diver, instrument rated private pilot, and motor yacht captain. He will be remembered for his candid personality; love of making others laugh; and occasional, witty sense of inappropriate humor. Always worked hard, yet lived life to its fullest. Never afraid of tackling something new. Although sometimes mis-understood, if he was your friend, he would stop at nothing to give support as he believed appropriate. He always considered PA as home and loved his golfing friends, but his desire for warm weather and living life on, in, or near water kept him more often in FL. Home was where the anchor dropped. Blessed with so many who supported him in thought and prayer during his courageous two-year battle for life. Visitation Sunday, June 23, 2019, 10 am until 1pm service at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Johnstown, PA. Deacon Scott Little, officiating. Committal at later date at Grandview Cemetery. Plant a tree: How does it work

When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.

An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.

After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.

Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

Tree Planting Timeline
