Mumbai resident Harsha Chawda, famous for being India's second test tube baby, has just become a mother. What's more, Chawda's baby boy was delivered by the same doctor who had the lead the medical team that worked on her birth in 1986.

Chawda, who was born on Aug. 6, 1986 in Mumbai, was officially considered to be India's first test tube baby for a long period of time. This status was changed almost two decades later when the claims of another doctor, Dr Subhas Mukhopadhyay, in producing the country's first and the world's second test tube baby Kanupriya Agarwal in 1978 were accepted.

Although Agarwal had been born just 67 days after the world's first test tube baby Marie Louise Brown, Mukhopadhyay's claims was not recognised for almost 25 years. The doctor committed suicide, and even inspired a Bollywood film called Ek Doctor Ki Maut (The Death of a Doctor).

Chawda, born eight years after Agarwal, was considered to be a medical marvel. Her birth paved the way for the use of IVF in India. Dr Indira Hinduja, who lead the team at Chawda's birth, was also part of the delivery team for her son.
