I guess this is the problem when you are running private railways, namely that you end up doubling up on stations, and also have more trains and track running about the place than is necessary (though I believe the government actually owns all of the tracks). So, this is the other station for Windsor, which is rather odd because, well, I don't see why a town the size of Windsor actually needs more than one railway station. Probably because it is a pretty touristy place, and the royal residence is here as well. Still, the station is quite nice, it's just a bit, well, duplicated.

Windsor & Eaton Riverside is located right at the bottom of the hill from the Castle and gets you very close to town. This is a good overground train station with trains that go to Waterloo station in Central London. Having this line makes a day trip out of London to Windsor very easy and affordable if you do not want to take a tour on a tour bus. For us, we were able to find a late morning train and got to Windsor & Eaton in around a half hour. The train was nice and air conditioned and when we pulled into the station it was easy to exit and find our way to the items on our list including a trip to the castle and a boat tour. The attendants at the station were very nice when we returned and let us know which train we needed to board. The station is small but it does have two platforms and a little news stand with refreshments.

The Windsor and Eton Riverside Station is a nice, small train station which provides transport into places that London Waterloo. It has many things you would normally expect from a Train Station such as Toliets and places to get Refreshments however with it not being in a major city or being a major train station the station lacks major facilities that feature in other train stations such as Waiting rooms and stores that include WHsmith and Starbucks,This station does have a Coffee Shop though. It only has 2 platforms but does provide transportation into the center of London, where you can get a train to basically anywhere in the United Kingdom. Although this isn't the best train station in the United Kingdom it is near some nice restaurants, provides basic facilities and is in a good location.
