Dr. Jean-Marc Slak is experienced and provided helpful information and good diagnostics. He examined the condition of my back and neck. He moves efficiently through his work explaining carefully as he proceeds. The environment at the office is relaxed and the staff is ready to help.

The staff at Slack Chiropractic Group is welcoming, kind, attentive, and thorough. We worked with Dr. Linda before and after our daughter's tongue, lip, and buccal releases and were incredibly impressed with her care. We would recommend her to anyone looking for bodywork for their infants/children, and would go back to her in a heartbeat. You won't be disappointed with any provider here!

I have been going to Dr. Jean-Marc and Dr. Linda for over 20 years for lower back problems. They are not only great people but they have unfailingly, time and time again helped me out when I had issues. As a result, I've never missed a day of work due to a back problem, never had a debilitating issue. And a year or more back my son had pain that prevented him from hiking or rock climbing. He went to see Dr. Jean-Marc several times a week for a while. He is currently driving from Boston to Utah where he plans to do some serious hiking. And he remains pain-free. Add to everything that my doctor - Dr. Jean-Marc - is a great music lover as am I so we have some great conversations. Highly recommended.

Always debated writing a review for this practice and decided against it, however after reading the reviews from 2015 and 2019 I feel as though it is necessary. I had the SAME exact experience as Cam J. Came to Dr. Slak with severe headaches at the base of the skull. Put me through multiple x-rays and asked a ton of questions. Returned the next day for him to paint a horrifying picture of how my neck looked but to not worry because he could fix it! Also tried selling me on an expensive pillow because it would 'really make a difference'. Adjusted me that day with the gun, didn't do any manual adjustments because 'thats just not his style', and provided zero pain relief. And quoted me THOUSANDS of dollars. Thank god I backed out and didn't give into whatever scheme he is running.

I can confirm the 1-star review from 2015 years ago. Slak appears to be all about the money, and swears by his spring-loaded activator tool for adjustments, which gets the job done EVENTUALLY, but only after a lot of pain and discomfort, with few noticeable results. If you're in need of fast pain relief, go somewhere else.

Recently I went to see him with severe jaw and neck pain that was affecting my ability to eat, talk and sleep -- I had seen him before and can thus confirm the activator claim. I was in such terrible pain that I was almost in tears and just wanted him to adjust me and give me some relief. But no: first he asked me a million questions about my lifestyle choices, and then took a whole bunch of X-rays. So, NOW was he going to help me with this severe pain? Nope -- he told me he couldn't do anything today, come back tomorrow. Really? I'm in agony, can barely open my mouth a full inch, and all you'll do is take X rays? Not a single adjustment?

So I did come back the next day, after another painful, almost sleepless night. Slak painted a horrifying picture of the state of my neck, said that the vertebrae were in bad shape and I needed an extensive treatment plan:

1. Adjustments 3x a week for 3 months, which (I'm not kidding, these were his words), "would not make it feel any better"
2. Advanced therapy, spinal manipulation and further adjustments for several more months, after which I MIGHT start seeing some results
3. Final adjustments and continuity of care, including some ultra-expensive therapeutic products

Final price tag: $3200, or $2400 if I paid him the full amount "up front, in cash." My insurance only covers 10 chiro appts, but he didn't mention that until I pressed him. And did I mention he said NOTHING about my jaw this whole time? I had to actually remind him about the jaw pain and ask him whether this would resolve that as well. His answer was a vague "Yep."

The questions and X-rays cost me $160. Still no adjustment to resolve the fact that I could barely eat or open my mouth.

Now I was understandably skeptical, so I went to a different chiropractor later that day for a second opinion.....

She asked me some questions, of course, but afterwards she gave me some manual adjustments to the lower back, pelvis, base of the neck, and the neck itself. The result? INSTANT PAIN RELIEF for everything, including my jaw, which has so far lasted an entire week! No X rays, activators, or fooling around -- just $100 for the results that Slak wanted **$3200** for.

Perhaps Slak is looking for a big insurance payout with all these X rays, or perhaps he's just extra cautious in his approach. Either way, I don't recommend this guy at all.

I was a devoted patient at Precision Chiropractic in Newburyport for several years. When we had to move to Concord, Dr Sean sent us to Slak Chiropractic, as he admires Dr Jean-Marc very much and considers him a mentor. My husband and I have been patients here for a year now, and as much as we miss Dr Sean, we know we are in superior care close to our new home. I had a chiropractor break one of my ribs during an adjustment once, so I would never trust a "crack" doctor again. It's a surprising treatment in how gentle it seems, but this is what it is to be in precise and expert hands: no snapping necks, no cracks of the back, no fear, no surprises. We consider our adjustments fundamental to our health and comfort, and I've not been in pain for the last few years using this more gentle approach to chiro, and that's after a decade of unpredictable and chronic back problems.

Extremely informative but very excessive. It was recommended I go 3x a week for the next 3 months then review after that for more visits. My insurance only covers so much and it seems that that is no concern of theirs. My 1st appointment was all talk and x-rays then my 2nd appointment was mostly talk and they used an 'activator' tool which DID NOTHING I felt no relief and I have previously gone to a handful of chiropractors with immediate relief but not this time. I am very disappointed and will not be returning. I understand everyone does things differently but the way they do things is not for me. I prefer good old fashion manipulation of the spine not a tool that gently pops you in the back and doesn't move anything back where it should be. I also got a couple different opinions who all disagreed with Dr slak and said they have not heard anything good about him! I brought a copy of my x-rays to my other appointments... the x-rays that dr. Slak took... There are only 3 out of about 15 that are useable! and the other chiropractors said I already have enough radiation in my system from Dr slak for a year and it is not safe for them to retake them! Therefore they have to work with the bad x rays that dr slak took! The other doctors also did not understand why dr. Slak took so many... the only thing I can assume is that he wanted to get as big of a check from my insurance company ad possible so he disregarded the danger aspect if radiation and desided to pad his pockets instead of think of the well being of his patient. DO NOT GO TO THIS LYING CHEATING MANIPULATIVE EXCUSE FOR A DOCTOR! I WILL BE FIALING A REPORT AGAINST THIS OFFICE!

As a new patient I'm very satisfied with the service I've received. As someone who has been burned by another chiropractor in the past, Dr. Slak does a great job of explaining his process and keeping me informed of what he's doing.

Dr Linda has worked with me to improve the strength & mobility in my hand through regular adjustments and exercises. The treatment and exercises have worked.

It can be very stressful to be traveling away from home, in need of medical treatment and having to find a new health practitioner without the benefit of a local credible referral. That's exactly what happened to me when I was in Burlington, MA recently on a business trip and suffering from severe acute back pain. The pain started with a skiing injury and had become progressively worse over a 10 day period from the combination of several long car rides, a cross country plane trip and several nights sleeping in hotel beds. I couldn't stand the pain any longer and found Slak Chiropratic Group using Yelp and gave them a call to ask if they had any openings. They gave me an appointment right away, delaying their lunch break to accommodate me because I was in such pain. Within a few minutes after arriving at the office and completing the new patient forms I was in the exam room. Dr. Jean-Marc was exceptionally effective and quickly diagnosed my condition and began to treat me and relieve my pain. He has a very relaxing demeanor and I was impressed with his knowledge. At the end of my session, my pain had diminished considerably and Dr. Jean-Marc gave me some additional recommendations to get me through the last day of my business trip until I could see my regular Chiropractor back home. I had a great experience because of the combination of great service and effective treatment. I travel frequently to the Burlington area and will definitely return.
