Michael T.
Brewery and tasting room dually focused on barrel-aged mixed-fermented beers and fresh hoppy ales. Founded on our shared passions for brewing science, delicious flavors, and the craft of beer production, we brew beers that are balanced, drinkable, and highly aromatic without tongue-scraping bitterness or piercing sourness. Beer should be a pleasure to savor, not a challenge to conquer! We try to have at least one new beer on each week, whether a new batch or a unique infusion with fruit, herbs, spices, coffee, or an extra dose of dry hops!

Q:
Do you have any outdoor seating?
A:
No outdoor seating at the moment, but we've had a zoning request for outdoor seating pending with the county for about a year... and should have it ready by summer 2023!
Michael T., Business Owner1 year agoQ:
Can we bring wine if others in the group are purchasing beer?
A:
Our liquor license doesn't allow for the consumption of alcohol brought in. We do offer hard cider fermented from local apples, hard seltzer with wine grapes, and a variety of gluten-reduced beers if any of those interest you!

Beer wise they have an option for everyone. I tried several as short pours. The standouts included:
1. The World Moved on Draft. Hazy DIPA at 8.1% ABV. More a piney IPA with less juice.
2. Grapefruit Juicius Draft. 7% ABV IPA that's almost the opposite of the World Moved on. Grapefruit juice and zest mellowed with vanilla beans. Creamy but no lactose in this.
3. 3 Bean Soup. This is an imperial stout with toasted hazelnuts, cacao nibs, vanilla beans, and coffee. Tastes like a mocha hazelnut latte. More of a dessert beer given the taste, thickness and ABV. You'll want a short pour.
Food is limited although the often have food trucks. Service was excellent. Good craft brew tasting room vibe.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jan 9, 2024
Sapwood Cellars and Brewery is a local brewery and bar in Columbia known for its exceptional brews. Visitors can unwind and socialize with friends while enjoying a refreshing drink and watching the game.
Food:
Their drink menu offers an exciting selection of beverages, including the Jamiest Bit pale sour ale, which is served in a cute picnic basket that also helps with pouring the ale. This ale has a tart taste reminiscent of sour cherries, and the fuzzy sensation is similar to kombucha. One bottle is perfect for sharing with up to three people. In addition, they offer a simple and quick resolution to satisfy your munchies with their chips and salsa, which is just a bag of Late July chips and a jar of salsa.
Service:
The service at Sapwood Cellars and Brewery is exceptional. The bartender was friendly and accommodating.
Ambiance:
The brewery has a spacious and modern ambiance with minimal decoration, making it a perfect place to relax after a long day. They also have a private space at the back, making it an ideal place for gatherings and events.

It's kinda tucked away, not a spot you happen across. It's really nice inside and the bar tender was very pleasant and helpful when deciding which of the really good beers to try. My only complaint is that they don't serve food. They do have a regular rotation of food trucks from what I was told. Unfortunately we arrived after it had gone. So check the times of the food trucks or eat prior to going. Other than that they serve a good beer.

First time stopping in. Great little tasting room brewery with interesting beers and such. They have lots of IPAs, not my cup of tea, but they're actually not too hoppy. If you're a person who wants the hops to punch you in the mouth then kick you while you're down... most of these aren't it. The hops are a bit mellow, more in the nose then on the palate. Definitely a friendly, neighborhood vibe. Lots of sours in the fridge, but not currently on tap. It's nice that they let you make mix-and-match 4 packs or grab 4 of your fav. We will just have to come back and try it again.
But wait! They can do a "can pour," but it's not technically on tap, head scratcher. Anyway, Smuzi: Orangesicle is like an orange beer float, wonderful!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Oct 30, 2023
Cool spot, great beer, great vibes, cool people. Thats it in a nutshell. I came here after visiting Other Half on my way to the airport. It was a cool spot and had great vibes. Plus the people sling beer were really nice. I had a blast. Plus I bought a shirt for my wife and I and a few stickers. Highly recommend!!

First of all the customer service goes above and beyond! I have never been to a brewery that is so informative and engaging. There's plenty of seating inside. Has a cute outside patio as well. The orange Julius is definitely my favorite cannot wait to come back.

As the old saying goes, "It it had been a snake, it would have bit me." Did not know a brewery existed so close by, let alone in a business park. Went there for a friend's birthday party. They have a separate room on the left side to hold parties. From the outside of this nondescript building, you would never know what was inside, uh, except for the sign that is. We walked in and it is a rather large bar like setting. It felt comfortable.
There were many workers moving around always busy helping customers. They all knew what they were doing. I spoke with the one of the older gentleman and asked if he was the owner. Nope, he just works part time. It appears this place opened in 2018. I assume this place was able to stay open through this pandemic because it works like a fine oiled machine. Literally anyone of the employees could have been the owner/manager. They were everywhere taking care of things. They brought over our drinks to the party room, cleaned up regularly, and all were friendly and helpful. I don't think they served food as I did not see any food menu, but they had a food truck outside which was also on point!
Had a great time and wouldn't hesitate to go there again!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 148160234Mar 6, 2022
Our trip yesterday was our second time coming here and it's crazy how many different beers they had. We asked if they had a flagship and they really just change out their beers and try new things constantly, which is definitely fun.
They have a little bit of everything, IPAs, sours, lagers, stouts that you'll find something you like. Some are more hit or miss than others but it's a cool space.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
