Since we stayed at the Baren hotel and read good things on Yelp, naturally we had to eat here. I recommend making those ressies!
We were warmly greeted and seated by the window. The restaurant was full and the food looked good as I passed by. Hubs and I needed a break from the meat shweats so decided to go meat free for dins and they have a good selection of vegetarian dishes to choose from.
The complimentary appie was good. I think it was tuna? Hubs had the pumpkin burger. I know, sounds odd and he was even questioning his choice but our waitress said it was good and it was! Somehow the flavors meshed well together and the slice of pumpkin had a great flavor and nice crisp to it. In case you were picturing pumpkin pie texture. Which is what I was picturing. Lols
I can't remember the name of my dish but it was the one with vegetables, pears and spatzle. I love spatzle so I enjoyed this, my veggies were cooked perfectly. I'm not big on pears and I thought it was a bit tart for my liking but that's ok. I don't know what the dipping sauce was that came with it but yuuuum!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Terry M.Des Plaines, IL1210097Jul 21, 2023
We stayed at the hotel based on the reputation of the restaurant. We have had the included breakfast each day which is simple, but all fresh and delicious.
The dinner was incredible. The service was casual but very good--there is absolutely no pretense here. It feels like you're having dinner on your neighbor's patio--if your neighbor is a creative cook and the dinner was growing in their garden just a few hours before.
We selected the set 5 course dinner, which was the best value, and the courses were perfectly timed in their presentation to allow for time to enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Each course was plated well, with colors and ingredients that matched the vibe.
The only negative is the proximity to the local playground--about 10 meters. There were several kids playing which was cute the first few courses, then got more loud and distracting as the dinner went on.
Based on food taste and presentation, however, it was one of the better dining experiences we have ever had.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - 135201203Oct 21, 2022
Had a great dinner outside with incredible views! I had the Wengen beef, and my husband had the lamb.. both were delicious! Highly recommended this restaurant for a nice dinner if you're in the area.

Great place for traditional Swiss food. The pumpkin soup and goat stew were specials true night we went and were delicious. The wine list has great Swiss wines at reasonable prices. Service here is friendly and helpful. A great dining experience in Wengen!

We had a great meal and relaxing evening. They brought us out an amuse bouchée. The dishes we had were outstanding and the best meal we had in Switzerland.

What a gem of a place in the quaint little Swiss mountain town like Wengen. Our family of five (with three teens) wanted a special evening to celebrate our time in Switzerland. This place did not disappoint. We started with the Tapas which included the wild mushroom cappuccino which sounded weird but was creative and delectable.
While the parents got the Felchenfilet, our teens enjoyed the Tagliatelle, Escalope and the burger. All came beautifully presented with fresh herbs and vegetables as sides. To see everyone's faces after their first bite was worth the price. The staff was kind and knowledgeable and the tables overlook the clouds rolling into the valley below. We will remember this meal for years to come.
I'm so glad places like this survived the last few years and are coming roaring back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 2 - Jun 3, 2019
Everybody else gave it a 5and Now see why. We sat outside with incredible mountian view it's now 10:05 and i am still looking at their shapes.
The service is top notch and the food was amazing. I had a 4 course meal that included and excellent soup, a shrimp salad, roast beef with all sorts of veggies (including the in season white asparagus), and desert.
The soup was excellent, the salad had 3 large perfectly cooked shrimp, I loved the roast beef (it was on the well done side like I like it but if want bloody you will have to ask). The desert was an excellent light chocolate moose. A great wine list and excellent service rounded everything out.
This has to be one of the best places in Wengen. It's not on the main drag but to the right if you come from the train station and are looking at the coop. Worth findingHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jeremy Y.Syracuse, NY9122138Aug 7, 2021
As our two weeks in the Jungfrau draws to a close, my wife and I decided to ditch the kiddos and find a good place to eat. Ironically, Yelp had rated a restaurant just down the street as best. We've avoided eating out here because prices are extravagant. Price aside, and honestly I've paid more for worse in America, the meal was stunning. From the mountain flowers we hike past everyday as garnish, to the interesting palette combinations, this place was really a stunner. Then add in the service - never having to pour my own drink, actually checking to see how the pace of the meal was going, and just some chats about our time here; Amazing staff! In Italy, a country renowned for its long course lengths, we were never asked about the pace of the meal. In fact, we were almost always rushed. In one case, we were told we had to go because the table was booked again for later - on a $250 meal! I digress...Not so here. The staff were always concerned about how and when we wanted our next course. It was wonderful!
The Lox melted in our mouthes and the dill mustard left us craving more. The Soup was fascinating, but by far both our favorites was something that sounds so simple: Strawbery Risotto. How amazing is it that something so strange sounding could be paired with Whitefish and be that amazing?
Nothing was even mediocre. The tomatoes were sweet and had no sour. The Spinach cooked just enough not to be slimy but still melt away. The meringue laden dessert was amazing, especially if you bang the meringue into the rest!
We couldn't afford to dine here every night with a 5 course menu at least, but if we could, we wouldn't try anywhere else!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Margaret R.Philadelphia, PA047Oct 7, 2022
My husband and I had a fantastic dinner here during our vacation in Switzerland! I had the testing menu which I highly recommend. Portions sizes are very large compared to tasting menus in the USA so you will definitely leave full but it's well worth the money to do the tasting menu instead of a la carte.
