10/10 pizza. I haven't tried Chicago deep dish but this London style deep dish was excellent. The crusts were crunchy/crispy and cheese pull was great. Not a busy restaurant (went Sunday afternoon). Overall atmosphere was relaxed.

This was probably one of the best pizzas I've ever had (get the truffle mayo too), and I wish I would've taken a photo of the garlic bread we ate. If you're looking for a place to escape the crowds, while enjoying the vibe this restaurant offers, check Japes out! 5/5 stars, can't recommend this place enough!

Got the Chicago pizza in the London Style. Absolutely incredible. I'd also recommend the Garlic & Mozzarella bread as well. Service was great & staff are very kind. The ambiance was wonderful. Overall, I'm really excited to go back someday!

My wife and I saw a flier for another Chicago style place that delivered to our hotel. However, that place had mostly bad reviews when searching for "Chicago style pizza in London" while out in This place on the other hand others raved about.
Being from America's Midwest and a huge fan of Chicago style pizza, having tried most of the joints while visiting with family and recovering from major surgery there, we were very impressed. To start we had the garlic and mozzarella bread. Then we shared Mediterranean and Buffalla deep dish pizza. To drink we had Berry and Apple Hawkes cider.
The style for the pizza is authentically Chicago deep dish, but also unique with thick crust doughy crust on the outside. We think the most similIar we have had in America is Labriola in Downtown Chicago, which is founded by the same owner as Stan's donuts. Speaking of donuts, we got some delicious donuts from Donut Time afterwards. The major difference here compared to American places is that all pizzas are personal sized rather the larger family sizes. This was one of our many great meals during our honeymoon and we truly recommend this to anyone craving Chicago style deep dish back home or locals and tourists who have not tried this style of pizza before. Another plus is they have outdoor dining, which you can also reserve in advance.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0Business owner information

Dear Keneth,
Thank you so much for taking the time to rate us. We are so glad to hear that both you and your wife enjoyed our deep dish pizza. We are hoping to see you back at Japes the next time when you are in London!
Kind regards,

Holy crap. If you're American, get the London style. Melted and roasted cheese in the crust. You can get deep dish at home. This is a pizza that I actually want to get at home. England has upped its pizza game. Great za!

Late review, sorry guys! I've been coming here since they opened. So glad they survived the Panny D. As a deep dish aficionado (Chicago is my favorite city in USA), I was a little skeptical. This place hits it out of the park! The cheese is so stringy, they have the dips for the crust (would be awesome if they offered honey though), they have really done their research on the pizza! The crust is amazing! The price is fair, as I only really eat half the pizza and save the leftovers for the next day, pro tip warm it up in the oven at 175 for 10-15 min. Their drinks menu is nice, their dessert menu is great too.
Service is always great, every time I walk in the Serbian (Serbian owned) guy says my name exactly how it's pronounced, muy bien, Hvala!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Andrew M.Austin, TX0293Jan 1, 2023
I'd give this place 6 stars if I could.
We walked in New Year's Day, it smelled delicious inside. The guy at the front said seating this day was by reservation only. He saw we were clearly bummed and ended up giving us a table, just asking us to not stay for too too long. Garlic bread was great. Pizza was perfect. I've eaten no fewer than 1000 pizzas in my life, have been to Italy several times, yet this place made it into my top 10. If I could cry over food, I would have.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Chris F.London, United Kingdom138181Jul 2, 2022
Wow this was a very special lunch not only was I catching up with one of my oldest friends and his amazing family. But it's been years since I've eaten a decent Chicago deep pan pizza.
I still remember when my mum took me to the Chicago Pizza Pie Factory in Hanover Square at age 9 (over 30yrs ago). The first time I tried a Pina Colada and the first time I'd eaten a sausage pizza. Two memories that'll stay with you for life.
So you can imagine how excited I was to visit Japes. Well to start with the actual menu on their website is out of date and says it has sausage to add. Well no such luck because the restaurant no longer has sausage on the menu. One of the kids suggested I bring my own next time and add myself which is a cool idea. Anyways despite the disappointment I ordered the Chicago with extra shrooms and it was delicious. I honestly thought I could manage 2 as they are quite small size. But actually 1 was plenty enough even for me.
The other guests were all happy with their orders and the Japes dips sauce for the pizza crust is heavenly.
Service was a bit light with only 2 servers covering the whole restaurant and around 20-30 patrons so took time to get drinks etc.
Strange that they only have 1 item on the dessert menu so thank god it's amazing biscoff brownie which arrives warm and gooey. If they added a dollop of vanilla ice cream it would've been perfection.
Would definitely go back again and again and highly recommend to pizza lovers.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Torrie L.Springfield, MA0236Dec 12, 2021
I would return here and recommend it to others.
Japes sells itself as deep dish pizza - this isn't proper deep dish (by American standards), but it is good pizza. Most importantly, the flavors were good.
Typically, deep dish has a think crust, including the base crust - it's not just the outer edge crust that makes it deep dish. Japes outer crust was good, it was lighter and more airy than a traditional deep dish (which is dense). The base crust is where the main issue arose, as it was too thin and thus soggy. A deep dish should be able to hold up all the toppings without flopping over, unfortunately I had to eat this with a fork and knife and the crust nearly disappeared under the toppings.
The toppings themselves were delicious and I enjoyed them immensely. Mine had sun dried tomatoes, but only had 2 on the entire pizza, so that was a tad disappointing, especially since it was the most expensive pizza yet didn't have meat.
All in all, I would return here and recommend it, but not with an expectation of deep dish.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
