Jhonattan Acosta, a 30-year-old Bolivian man, has recounted his experience of surviving for 31 days in the Amazon jungle after getting lost. He had become separated from his hunting group of four friends in northern Bolivia and had to rely on survival skills, such as collecting rainwater in his shoes and consuming insects and worms to sustain himself. Along with this, he had to hide from predators, such as jaguars and peccaries, which are similar to pig-like mammals.

After getting lost for a month, Acosta was eventually discovered by a search party consisting of local residents and his companions. Overwhelmed with emotion, he expressed his disbelief that people had continued searching for him for so long. In tears, he shared with Unitel TV the extent of his survival tactics, including consuming insects and worms as well as foraging wild fruits resembling papayas called gargateas.
Although Acosta's family intends to learn more about his experience of getting lost and surviving, they will approach the issue gradually as he is still emotionally traumatized by the event. At the time of his discovery, Acosta had lost 37 pounds (17 kilograms), suffered from dehydration, and had a dislocated ankle. However, he was still able to walk with a limp, according to those who found him.



When Jhonattan Acosta became lost, he lacked essential tools, such as a machete or a flashlight. He also resorted to use his boots to collect rainwater for drinking. He also revealed to his family that he had several frightening encounters with wild animals, including a jaguar. Jhonattan's younger brother shared that the survivor had used his last cartridge to scare off a herd of peccaries.

After surviving for 31 days in the jungle, Jhonattan Acosta spotted a search party approximately 300 meters away and made his way towards them, shouting to get their attention as he limped through thorny bushes. He was ultimately discovered by four local individuals. His family described his survival as a "miracle." Jhonattan's younger brother has since indicated that his brother has decided to give up hunting entirely following his traumatic experience.

Meanwhile, the police have announced their intention to question the four friends, who were with Jhonattan at the time he became separated from them, in order to gain a better understanding of how the incident occurred.
