Vegetable Fiber Composites and their Technological Applications

Abstract

Vegetable fiber is fast becoming an essential material in cement based construction with slow but steady adoption in several countries for different application. This chapter focuses on the importance of vegetable fiber for cement composite reinforcement with emphasis being placed on the renewability and sustainability prospects. Effort was also made to outline the various challenges it faces most especially in terms of long term durability performance in alkaline medium and the possible solutions to these problems were similarly discussed in details.
