Why do you need Gundams when you have Leos looking this good?

In today’s 432nd edition of our Let’s Talk Gunpla segment, we will talk about P-Bandai’s latest Gunpla release announcement! This week we will cover P-Bandai’s newest addition to their HGAC exclusive Gundam Wing Dual Story G-Unit RE:Operation lineup. 

So, without further ado. Let us get into it, shall we? 

HG 1/144 OZ-13MSX1B-S Vayeate Suivant & OZ-113MSX2B-S Mercurius Suivant (HGAC)

Release Date: April 2023

With the release of the standard Vayeate and Mercurius, we know that eventually, we’ll get the Suivant version of both MS.

True enough, we are getting the Suivant version of the Vayeate and the Mercurius next year in April.

Although we shouldn’t be that surprised since they did release the HGAC Leo S. So, it makes sense that we will get the Suivant version somewhere down the road eventually. But how different is this version when we compare the standard version that P-Bandai released earlier to the upcoming Suivant variant?

Besides the badass color scheme these two Suivant versions obviously got, we can also see other changes done on the Suivant version.

The first noticeable change in the Suivant version is the weapons designs. For example, for the Vayaete Suivant, we are getting two backpack-attached beam cannons instead of just one like the Standard Vayeate. The other difference between the Suivant version and the Standard version’s Beam Cannon is the Suivant version’s Beam Cannon is not attached to a harness. Instead, the beam cannon is connected directly to the beam generator. Plus, it’s slightly shorter. While the standard version is attached to a harness, the beam cannon attached to the beam generator is via a tube, and the beam cannon is longer.

The Mercurius Suivant is the one that doesn’t have any significant changes to its weapon designs. The only difference the Suivant version had over the standard version is that the Suivant version comes with more of the badass Planet Defensor.

How many Planet Defensors that the Mercurius Suivant comes with when we compare it to the standard Mercurius? Well, the Mercurius Suivant comes with 20 of that badass Planet Defensors. So you can arrange the Planet Defensor for the HGAC Mercurius Suivant to make it into that large X at its back.

Somehow looking at this reminds us of the Crossbone.

The other change we notice on the Suivants is the new head units. Because we noticed that it looks completely different from the one we see in the Standard version, from the time we spent looking at the head unit, we deduced that they used a completely different mold for the Suivant version’s head unit. Honestly, we feel that both of the Suivant variant’s head designs looked like a combination of Eva and Zeta Gundam’s head designs into one.

Which we admit looked nice.

But that’s about it. Since it uses the same base as the Standard HGAC Vayeate and Mercurius, we don’t expect the experience building the Suivant variants to be too different than the standard ones. In fact, we expect the upcoming HGAC Suivant kits to be like working on the standard version with tiny changes here and there. 

But still, even with that said, we are still quite keen on getting these. We can expect that fans of the original Vayeate and Mercurius (like us) and manga readers would be looking forward to this. So we expected this to have its preorder window closed as soon as it opened.

It already happened over here, unfortunately. Because we as well saw that the preorder window for this kit closed as soon as P-Bandai listed it on their Shopee site. We wouldn’t be surprised that it would be the same everywhere else.

The only positive we can see here is that P-Bandai decided to sell this as a set. So at the very least, it makes hunting down this HGAC kit easier.

Our only advice to those that haven’t yet have the PO window open on your end, you better be prepared to preorder this. Because this is the P-Bandai HGAC kit, everyone would be out to get it.

And that concludes our 432nd edition of the Let’s Talk Gunpla segment for today. Although we are slowly heading towards the end of the year, we find it quite interesting that the P-Bandai side seems to show signs of not slowing down with their new P-Bandai exclusives announcements for 2023.

Not that we’re complaining, but we are wondering what the Retail side is doing while the P-Bandai side has been hammering us with new P-Bandai exclusives.

We do hope that the retail side has something equally interesting on their side as well.
