Finally the hunt is over

Eventhough there are a few new kits that I purchased recently that I have at my disposal that I would love to unbox, but after doing some thinking, I decided to pick on one that I got with all the other new kits and unbox that instead. 

It’s a pretty old No-grade 1/144 kit, the one that I admit that I have been going around to find for quite some time, even before I started with the blog.

Yes, out all the old Gunplas that I was looking forward to getting, this was the only one that stayed in my mind for quite some time, for good reason. Because this was the kit that rekindled my love for gunpla building, the one that I feel sets me in this correct path to become obsessed with gunpla building.

Although admittedly the only reason that I was able to own this now, si due to Bandai’s recent decision to reprint some of the old Gundam Wing No grade 1/144 WF kits again. I’m forever thankful to Bandai for making that decision because now I get to relive that fond memory that I have with building this kit and see if I could do it justice this time as opposed to the last time I worked on it.  

But coming in I’m aware that this kit is a really old Gunpla kit, and it might not hold up well when compared to the newer kits under the same scale. So that is why I don’t expect much coming into this unboxing bit.

So with that out of the way, let us now talk more about the kit shall we? And let us start by first talking about the Boxart and the packaging of this kit in general. To be honest it looked all right, even though the CG style is quite dated but it does look good overall still. However, the problem that I have with the Vayeate’s boxart is the fact that the normal version had the better boxart as compared to what we have here. 

Which we find to be quite frustrating that they decided to use the CG rendition instead of just reusing the old drawn boxart of the normal version. Because the normal version looked alot better compared to what we got here for this version.

Yes I completely understand the reason behind this decision. Where I could see that they prolly don’t want to have people confused the two versions together. But they could’ve just resolved it by just adding in Trowa face on the box, without having to change anything much. 

But alas this is what we get for this version, but eventhough we kind of missed out on the better version of the boxart, but like I said before, it is not to say that the CG version is all that bad.

Even though I’m pretty bothered with learning about the huge difference in terms of the quality of arts that we get between the main part of the WF’s version to the normal one, but the rest of this packaging is quite all right.

It shares the same promotional materials that we get with the normal version, but with of course some changes made here and there. Notably with the inclusion of the picture of the painted figure and some changes made to the font, here and there.

As I moved on to the actual unboxing, that is where things to me get to be a lot more interesting for me. Why? Well that is because I was quite impressed by the level of detail that is present here on some of the No-Grade Vayeate’s parts. Looking at how good this looks still, does make me quite curious to learn of how would the rest of the kit under this lineup would look. 

Oh it should even be said that the detail I see on the unpainted Trowa Barton figure that is included here looks impressive as well. Which begs the question, why did they stop including unpainted figures with the 1/144 releases? 

But admittedly, from what I could see here it does seem like I may need to put down a lot of paintworks here and there to make this kit look at least presentable. The reason being for that is that there are quite alot of uncolored parts which do require you to pun down some work to make that particular part look decent at least.

So yeah, I’m bracing myself for the massive task that lies ahead of me here with this No-Grade Vayeate kit.

With the observation of the parts done, now we can finally take the time to take a look at the No-Grade Vayeate’s manual. 

Remember at the start of the unboxing that we talked about the similar things that this kit shares with the normal version? 

Because apparently, the boxart isn’t the only thing that it shares similarities from apparently…Because this kit inherited the manual as well. Well technically since they are the same kit with just the only difference that WF version comes with an unpainted figure, so it kind of made sense that it shares the same manual.

But the manual itself is fairly standard, with it having one section dedicated to lore and the rest dedicated to the building part of this kit. Eventhough I do wish that they would dedicate more pages on this manual on lore for this MS, but since this a fairly cheap kit, I can understand why they decided to make it as simple as it is. 

Even with that said, however, I still appreciate the fact that they manage still cram some lore here regardless.

I as well appreciate the simplicity of the building instruction section of this manual, the visuals used here were pretty clear and by just one look I can tell that it is a manual which is very easy to understand. 

Overall, from what I can see here everything looks really good. But even with that said, I’m still not expecting much from it because just like mentioned earlier this is a very old kit, so I don’t expect it to be a mind-blowing kit.

Alas I’m looking forward to the day that I start work on this again and hopefully, I don’t catch the Eid bug this week so I could finish the HG Origins Gramps this week so I could move on to this. 

Hopefully, I would have as much fun here as I did with the HG Gramps.
