Toronto’s Spin Master Entertainment has secured a global toy license for Nickelodeon Animation’s franchise Dora the Explorer, ahead of the premiere of a new series based on the preschool IP.

Spin Master’s collection of figures, dolls, playsets, vehicles, plush toys, role-playing games and puzzles will launch in fall 2024. Spin Master is known for producing hot IP-based toys for brands such as its own PAW Patrol franchise as well as DreamWorks Animation’s Gabby’s Dollhouse IP.

Nickelodeon’s new CG-animated series, Dora, is a reboot of the early-aughts hit. Like the original, it focuses on the adventures of a Latina girl, along with her cast of colourful friends. Paramount+ will launch the series globally in spring 2024.

Nickelodeon launched the original Dora series in 2000. It achieved international success, and today is available in 144 countries and 23 languages. Nickelodeon has released two animated Dora TV spinoffs: Go, Diego, Go! (2005) and Dora and Friends: Into the City! (2014), as well as the live-action feature film Dora and the Lost City of Gold (2019).

In other Nick news, the kidcaster has renewed its classic toon SpongeBob SquarePants for a 15th season. SpongeBob and his friends will keep embarking on their underwater adventures in the new 26-episode season. SpongeBob, which is coming up on its 25th anniversary next year, is one of Paramount Global’s most widely distributed series. The iconic toon is available in more than 170 countries and in more than 20 languages.
