A love letter to Super Junior on their 18th anniversary

YouTube publicly shared its first video in 2005, the same year when Super Junior made their debut. A year ahead of X (Twitter) and two years before the release of the first iPhone model in 2007.

Today, almost everyone owns a smartphone and uses technology as a tool for working, playing, communicating, and more.

Today, Super Junior is celebrating their 18th anniversary. This is my love letter to them.

There is no exact data on the life span of a K-pop group, but it depends on several factors, including its ability to adapt to trends and how the public will receive them.

Everyone can be young once, but growing old while doing something you love is rare. And growing old alongside your fans, who are also aging, is an even rarer thing to see. It’s also a privilege. No amount of technology can replace the bond between Super Junior and ELFs.

From Cyworld to Weverse, MP3s to Spotify. The world may change, but Super Junior will remain. Call them dinosaurs. Call them Ahjussis. They have flaws and weaknesses, but they are still Super Junior, the Kings of Hallyu. They have been making ELFs proud for 18 years. They will grow old, but they will also grow stronger.

I must admit I’m not that active with streaming and other things. I may not be a technology expert, but I will try to learn from Shindong. My knees and back may not withstand the standing area, but my heart will always cheer for you. My ATM will always find a way for you.

I will pray for you, like Siwon. I will try to exercise like Donghae.

Congratulations on your 18 years. Some years ago, I was going through a tough time and could not smile for weeks. But then I saw a K-drama, and it ended with the cast dancing to a catchy song that made me feel better. I looked up the song title and the artists, and it turned out to be “Sorry, Sorry” – a song you tirelessly sing and dance to. Thank you
for always giving your best. Here’s to Super Show 10 and beyond!
