I think the best option would be "come back to life"

@brandun they're not wrong, I just think that it would be the best option to any context 😁
revive means to regain life, consciousness, or strength
"she was beginning to revive from her faint"
relive means to live through (an experience or feeling, especially an unpleasant one) again in one's imagination or memory
"he broke down sobbing as he relived the attack"
and come back to life simply means to become alive after being dead

@palmtreepanik Alright. How would you express “to become alive after being dead” for people in real life? And how would you express that same thing for players being dead and alive in video games? Would you use “come back to life” in both situations?

@brandun well, in real life, any of them can be used. but I think "come back to life" is commonly used, I would express it that way
while in video games, the terminology may vary, but "respawn" is commonly used to describe when players return to life after being defeated or killed in the game
you could also say "revive" as in, "I"m gonna die! please revive me" cause when you're downed by your opponent, you have a short time where you may be "revived" by an ally, so you're not dead yet
I really wouldn't use "come back to life" in video games, but it's not uncorrect, I never heard someone saying it
I suck at explaining things btw, sorry about that

@palmtreepanik No, you explained it pretty well! Could you make an example sentence with “respawn” to show me how it would be used in video games?

@brandun Thanks! glad you got it 😁
"I'll be back in the game shortly. I'm respawning in a few seconds"
cause in most games, there is a brief delay before a player returns to the game after being defeated

@palmtreepanik Yes, I know that. I do play video games. So “relive” is never used to mean being alive after dying, but “revive” and “come back to life” can be used to mean that, right?

- English (US)
@brandun Exactly, but "relive" can also mean to live again, i totally forgot to mention that (not come back to live, just experience something again)
sorry for the confusion!

@brandun "relive" means to experience or live through something again. it does not necessarily imply coming back to life after dying

@brandun no, "relive" typically does not mean coming back to life after being dead. it means to experience something again, as in reliving a past memory or moment in your life.
for example, "relive your life" does not mean to come back from the dead, it means to live over again, to experience (your past) again in the imagination

@palmtreepanik Ok. So, only “revive” and “come back to life” mean that, “relive” never means that, right?

@palmtreepanik I have the last question for you now. “Respawn” is never used to mean coming back to life outside video games, right?
- Arabic
- English (US)
@brandun correct, it's only used in the context of video games

reincarnate sounds kind of religious, relive means to re-experience something, it has nothing to do with revival. Revive definetely sounds like a video game thing, and "become alive again" sounds a bit zombie-like or medically related, so "Come back to live" would be the word that is not too much affected by anything
