Great Rose Hips!

Although I currently don’t have this rose (I have moved from where I grew it) I wanted to leave a review that mentions the rose hips! This rose grows fabulously large decorative rose hips in the winter. I would leave on the last flush of flowers in the late summer and the orange rose hips would form. Very decorative in the early winter garden. Oh - and then I agree with all the other comments about the lovely, large red single blooms. Very eye-catching!

Easy and Prolific

I bought two Altissimo climbers several years ago. I built a redwood trellis for them to climb to hide the long side of my shed which I use for potting and all my power tools. This rose produces a beautiful velvet looking flower that is wonder to behold. I get more compliments on this rose bush than any other that I have. Since the soil in Ca. where i live is extremely rocky I dug out a 30" hole 24" wide for each plant and put in a soil mix recipe for roses I got from SFgates. First year had a beautiful display and now it covers the entire trellis.

Healthy gorgeous rose

I live in zone 11 which is the East Bay of Northern California. My Altissimo rose is blooming and has beautiful healthy foliage. I planted it in the beginning of the summer. The blooms are dark red and stunning and long lasting. I am very happy with the quality of this plant.

Altissimo may be my favorite rose.

I ordered two Altissimo roses from you two years ago. One almost died and you graciously sent me a replacement. It turns out it didn't die and now I have three. I planted them along a south-facing wall and am fanning them out on cables. We see them when we look out the window above the kitchen sink. They provide beautiful large, bright red flowers all summer long. I love the way they brighten up my grey cement block wall. They are very hardy and have very strong vines. The fact that they have viscious thorns is not a concern as they are against the wall.
