Two thieves riding mopeds perpetrated a rash of purse snatching in Boro Park and its periphery as they executed drive by robberies on Monday night, January 1, 2024.

A woman standing at Elmwood Avenue and McDonald Avenue was the victim of an attempted purse snatching when two men on a moped sped by and tried to grab her pocketbook. The woman held on tightly and was able to thwart the robbery.

Another robbery took place at 45th Street and 15th Avenue when two men on a moped stole a woman’s pocketbook. Once again, the description of the perpetrators and the moped match the first two incidents of the evening.

Another woman was walking nearby on McDonald Avenue and Webster Avenue when a moped whizzed by and one of the rider grabbed her pocketbook. This time, the thieves were able snatch the purse away from the owner. The riders seem to match the description of the first moped riders in the unsuccessful attempt a few minutes earlier.

Boro Park Shomrim have been assisting police in combing the area in search of the suspects.
