press escape key for startup menu problem

After a short break I come home and meet this text when I try to start my PC.

press the escape key for startup menu

I have searched many forums, including this, how many solutions are described, but nothing helps.

  • I have tried to remove the coin-cell battery, hold the Power button for 30 seconds.
Then connect the power and boot up. Same problem.
  • With Coin-Cell battery removed, wait 20 minutes, and try Power on again. Same problem.
  • I removed the DVD drive and hard disk. Same problem.
  • Have tried to connect another disk. same problem
  • Have tried to press Esc continuously during start-up. Same problem.
  • Have tried to press F10 during startup. Same problem.

It can not be right that this problem can not be overcome.

What more can I test has run out of ideas? ? ?

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

I read your post about your PC not getting past the esc menu prompt and wanted to help -- but need more information.

The graphic image you posted on the forum is not displaying, so I can't see that information.

Your PC did not come with Win10 preinstalled, so you must have done the Win10 Upgrade -- right?

If so WHEN did you do that? And, what version was the prior OS?

Did this problem start right after the Upgrade?  Or has it started recently, and if so, when?

We can proceed once you provide the information.

Thanks

Hello WaWood

1) Here is the Picture from our website

Press the ESC key for startup Menu

2) The PC  is delivered preinstalled with Windows 7, and upgraded to Windows 10  many months ago. It has worked fine with Windows 10

3) The problem occurred after I had gone away for about 10 days when the PC is turned off.

4) I connected the hard drive to another PC, and here I can read my file structure, so it does not look as if the hard disk is defective. There may be some boot problems with it, I can just not test now.

Kind regards

Sune

Thanks for the image.

The PC must not be booting eventually into a Windows desktop, otherwise, you would not be posting problems.

So, what happens after you wait a while and do not press the Esc key?

Looks like you may have missing or corrupted boot loader files.

To fix this, you will need access to a working PC for this step in order to create the media needed to repair your PC boot loader.

Once you have that, please download and create Win10 install media from this link: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/media-creation-tool-install?ocid=ms_wol_win10

Note that when you go do download and build install media, the tool defaults to matching what is already installed on your PC (as in, Home for Home, 64-bit for 64-bit).  While you CAN change these settings, do NOT. If you do, the resulting media will be different and will force you to enter a NEW product code!

Boot from the media you created, and follow the directions in this link: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2294-advanced-startup-options-boot-windows-10-a.html

You will need to go to the Advanced Options screen and click on Startup Repair.  You will probably have to run Startup Repair three times for it to fix all the boot loader problems.

When done, your PC should boot OK.

Good Luck

Dear WaWood.

As it is now, I see no option to boot anything.

Have tried to install a new hard drive, and placed an OEM Windows 10 disk media in the DVD drive, but already 2 seconds after power on, appears the displayed image (Press escape key for startup menu).

The problem, thus, is how I get around it?

I do not see it as something that has to do with the original disk.

I miss simply a way to reset the BIOS, so there may be access to it again.

Kind regards

Have you abandoned me, or can I hope to proceed?
