About Ficus 'Ruby'
Ficus elastica, more commonly known as the rubber tree, has a white, milky latex that is a source of natural rubber. They’ve also been shown to have excellent antimicrobial and antioxidant properties. The aerial roots of the rubber tree have been used to create incredible living bridges in India. The bridges get stronger over time as the roots slowly fuse together, and some are over a hundred years old! 🌉

Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Ficus 'Ruby' after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Grow light recommendations #GrowLights #Ficus #NewPlants #FicusRuby #HappyPlants hello everyone, I’m brand new to grow lights, so no idea about them. Looking for one that would look nice in a living room. I have this new rubber ruby and I think will need some extra light in the bottom half. Amazon has some that stand and can be made shorter or longer. But I’m not sure of the type of light they emit. This is one of the ones I’m looking at. https:// . Or . https:// this style I’ve seen 20 and 40 watt. But no idea of what the plant needs. She’s facing east and the condo has another condo right across. So light is limited. . Edit to add, this app really needs a search function.

From Chicago to New York City, Chi has made it home with no issues. Have to buy a new stand for her and other new plants. TSA agent even asked about her bag and where did I buy her. If you ever in Chicago, Wicked plants is a cool spot. #HappyPlants #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict

Watering frequency, Ruby rubber plant #Ficus Hello everyone, new to the group. I’m in Southern California. This is my latest addition to the family. Bought it March 17 and today is April 20th. When I brought it home, the soil was very wet. I haven’t water it since. Been keeping an eye on the soil humidity with one of those meters that you stick in the ground. As of today, going almost all the way down with the meter, it still dials to the middle of humid. The top couple of inches are dry. The plant seems to be doing very well and has even grown some, the top was initially below the supporting bamboo sticks. I’m getting conflicting info. Some places say water when the top 2 to 3 inches are dry and others not until the meter is on the low end of humid, when all the way in. The pot is 10” wide and 9” deep. And the window is facing south, but the condo has another building right in front of it. So it only gets direct sun till around 1 or 2pm. What do you guys think?

Black Spots on Ruby Ficus Hello! Im still kinda new to plants and Im a little worried about my Ruby Ficus. One of its bottom leaves have 2 black spots developing. I have read its possibly either not enough light or possibly a fungus but Im honestly not sure none of my other plants seem to be affected as of now. Thanks in advance for any help or tips!

Ficus Ruby I've bought Ruby yesterday in market. My biggest concearn is daily sunlight. I am on souther side and even now its pretty hot on balcony. We get direct sunlight from 11.00 to aroud 17.00pm We have shades and can prevent having her sutting in direst sun for a whole day, either way she gets a lot of bright indirest sunlight. * So my question is, sould she be is shade where she gets bright indirect sun or sould she sit in direst sun? I think that direct sun will burn her young leaves. Another question, How fast do they grow? What sould she look in a year or so? #ficusruby * Sun can get all the way up to balcony door and a shelf where she sits. Woopsie! Her soil is solid dry and I dont know when was she watered. Sould I wait few more days?

Dropping and dropping leaves Hello, I’m here in the UK, and would love to help my plant. It’s leaves are dropping massively and I’m not sure why. I’ve spaced out waterings, it doesn’t need water now, it’s placed where there’s as much light as we get at this time of year. Could it be the cold? Maybe it has been overwatered? (Received this from a pal before Christmas in this state to try and rescue him). Any thoughts would be appreciated thank you!

What other plant parents say
Super fast grower in the correct light conditions and rewarding to watch because every couple leaves adds inches. Also very tolerant of low light - I had it on a bottom shelf with almost no light for a year and it was fine. It didn’t grow, but it didn’t suffer. Then as soon as I put it in a bright windowsill it started popping out leaves like crazy. The variegation is also gorgeous.
