ICICLE presented Yuni Ahn x Natural Way AW23 collaboration 'MAKE THE BEST USE OF EVERYTHING'
In a world increasingly at the mercy of dwindling resources, over-consumption, and thoughtless manufacture, ICICLE has always upheld its profound respect for nature. It has quite naturally sought out ways to create responsible garments, minimizing the impact on the planet.
The Yuni Ahn x Natural Way AW23 collaboration, presented at Paris Fashion Week, was born from the idea of recycled cashmere padding. Its title — MAKE THE BEST USE OF EVERYTHING — is drawn from a philosophy for life that strives to make full use of limited resources, cherishing what nature offers by reusing and recycling, thus limiting waste. The capsule also explored the intrinsic value of each part of a garment, to find a different way of understanding clothing, questioning production methods in order to create natural and durable pieces by using Yuni Ahn's expertise as a modeller and her commitment to "sustainable creation".
All garments are easily combinable and interchangeable, while deconstructed silhouettes were achieved with overlays that paid homage to traditional Chinese clothing. In terms of materials, knits were warm and generously proportioned, while the cashmere used in the collection was sourced from the Chinese Maison's repurposed fabrics. The photographable boot gaiters were also made from luxury deadstock materials, and the color palette was kept natural and mineral, without the use of any dyes.
