2018-19 (R-SOPHOMORE): Made 30 appearances including four starts…played in season opener, making first appearance in over 600 days since season-ending injury as a freshman…averaged 6.4 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 18.1 minutes per game…led team with 42 steals (1.4 per game) and was second with 20 blocks…averaged 42.9% from the field, 22.2% from three-point range, and 64.4% from the free throw line…made ESPN’s #SCTop10 Plays of the Day with No. 5, a buzzer-beating game-winning shot vs. Utah Valley Jan. 5…tallied 13 points, career-high nine rebounds, three blocks, and four steals in WAC Tournament quarterfinal loss to UTRGV Mar. 14…became the first `Runner since 2012-13 to record at least three tally marks in all five major statistical categories in a single game with nine points, five rebounds, career-high seven assists, three blocks, and five steals vs. Cal Poly Dec. 18…recorded career-high 16 points vs. Utah Valley Jan. 5…tallied career-high three blocks in four different games.
2017-18 (REDSHIRT): Sat out the season as a medical redshirt…had five surgeries between injury and return.
2016-17 (FRESHMAN): Part of CSUB team that reached school's first National Invitational Tournament and became first No. 8 seed in NIT history to reach NIT semifinal…averaged 10.8 minutes per game over 24 games…had 2.4 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 0.9 assists per game…shot 47.9% from the field (23-of-48)…scored season-high eight points vs. San Diego Christian Nov. 12…suffered season-ending leg injury Feb. 11 vs. UTRGV.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2016 graduate of Southaven HS located in Southaven, Mississippi...coached by Todd Arnold... led his team to 2015-16 District Championship...received two All-Star Game MVP's and two-time recipient of Athlete of the Week...also ran track in high school.
PERSONAL: Born on June 29, 1998...son of Kenya Southerland...a child, adolescent, and family studies major...hopes to play basketball professionally after his time at CSUB...gave up the number 3 jersey to teammate Cam Allen before 2019-20 season and donned number 4.
