Mahindra Global Pik Up will target customers in India, Africa, Southeast Asia, Middle East, Oceania and South America with high off-road capability

Mahindra & Mahindra has hosted the world debut of an all-new pickup truck concept christened the Global Pik Up in Cape Town, South Africa. Pertaining to the needs of off-roading, commuting and camping, the Mahindra Global Pik Up is claimed to be packed with technologies while being tough, versatile and highly capable with top-notch safety features.

The homegrown manufacturer has identified India, Africa, Southeast Asia, Middle East, Oceania and South America as big markets for the Global Pik Up while other markets are also evaluated. It is said to be based on the next-generation ladder frame with enhanced use of high-strength steel (more than 80 per cent) and class-leading stiffness.

The lightweight body structure is tough and versatile according to Mahindra and the Global Pik Up derives power from a second-generation mHawk diesel engine with an all-aluminium construction. It is claimed to have ‘unparalleled’ torque at the low end. The powertrain is paired with a six-speed manual transmission with cable shift and a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission sourced from Aisin.

The Mahindra Global Pik Up boasts highly capable all-terrain tech with an electric shift-on-fly four-wheel-drive configuration (4WL and 4WH). To tackle different terrains, it features multiple drive modes such as Gravel, Mud, Sand, Normal, and Snow. The concept is unlikely anything we have seen from Mahindra in terms of design encompassing form as well as factor.

Wearing a matte military green paint scheme, it comes with an upright front fascia featuring sleek LED headlamps with inverted L-shaped integrated LED Daytime Running Lights, a deep squarish housing for the vertical LED fog lamps, black grille section with new Mahindra logo sitting in the middle, a muscular bonnet and off-road accessories like toe hooks.
