The eight planets in our solar system (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune) orbit the star called the Sun. Planets differ from other objects such as comets, astreoids and meteors. Planets have an atmosphere or a layer of gases surrounding them. Most of the planets have at least one moon.
