Colin Farrell names the movie he’s watched the most

Irish actor Colin Farrell has opened up for the first time about the movie that he’s watched the most amount of times over the course of his life.

Farrell’s latest project is the new Apple TV+ series, Sugar, set to land on the streaming platform on April 5th. In the upcoming programme, Farrell, who also serves as an executive producer on the gritty Sugar, portrays the show’s eponymous private detective tasked with fighting the dark underbelly of Los Angeles.

Ahead of the highly-anticipated launch of the series, Farrell talked to Fox 5 correspondent Kevin McCarthy, who took the Irish actor aback by asking him about his most watched movie.

After answering a million and one questions about Sugar while on the junket circuit, Farrell delightfully responded to the surprising question, “Well holy shit, I’m doing this 25-years and no one’s ever asked me that.”

Farrell then revealed after a moment of contemplation, “The one I’ve seen most is probably Back to the Future.” The Banshees of Inisherin star then confirmed it was the first movie in the Back to the Future he was referring to, but explained how he holds a fondness towards the entire series of films.

“I love them all, three is tonnes of fun, I just go back to the original time and time again and my kids have been raised on the original,” Farrell added.

The Academy Award-nominated actor continued: “I went through a few, a lot of (Steven) Spielberg stuff. Jaws, E.T., Close Encounters, Withnail and I, Paris, Texas. (Those) are ones that I’ve seen countless, countless times. We just watched Once Upon A Time In Hollywood last night at home, that’s only a few years old and I might have already seen that four times, but Back to the Future.”

Heaping further praise upon Quintin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Farrell described it as “so pleasing”, “sneakily funny” and Tarantino’s “most enjoyable”.

Meanwhile, Farrell also recently discussed the upcoming Batman spin-off television series The Penguin, in which he undertook a dramatic transformation to play Oswald Cobblepot.

The upcoming eight-part programme is set to arrive on Max later this year. Hinting at the storyline, Farrell said to MovieZine: “We wrapped it, man. We did it. Stuck a fork in it two weeks ago, and it was a long and really wonderful experience. And it’s dark, that’s what I can tell you about it. It’s really dark, and really heavy, I think, certainly it was doing it. Which is not to say I didn’t have fun. I had an amazing time. But it’s incredibly violent.”
