When we see a product thats available and commonly bought, we assume it's totally safe. Otherwise, how would it be available for sale? Unfortunately the cosmetics industry isn't heavily regulated. When it comes to things like setting sprays, they're normally sold in aerosol cans which are definitely not great for our health. When we use aerosol containers, we breathe in some of the aerosol chemicals, so we really want to avoid them when it comes to an every day product like a setting spray.
By making your own setting spray, you can put it in a safe spray bottle of your choosing. Not to mention by using the simple ingredients I've listed below, you'll avoid the harsh chemicals that are included in most conventional setting sprays currently on the market.
How to make your setting spray
What you'll need:
- 4 oz spray bottle
- 2 tablespoons aloe vera gel
- 1 tablespoon witch hazel
- 3 oz rosewater
- 1/2 teaspoon tea tree oil (optional)
Step 1: Combine aloe vera, witch hazel and rose water.
Step 2: Using a funnel, add mixture to your spray bottle.
Step 3: Add tea tree oil if using.
Step 4: Shake well and spray liberally to the face, about 12 inches away for a light mist effect. This can be used as a setting spray or on it's own.
This rosewater spray is extremely refreshing! With easy to obtain ingredients and simple steps to make, you really can't go wrong. Give it a shot, your skin will thank you for it.
