Full moons have been used often for lighting at night before electricity and have been used in astrology for the end of the lunar cycle, which means they connect to endings. They represent the end of one cycle and the transition into the next.

They are also neat to look at. We have prime viewing Tuesday night for the February full moon, also known as the "snow full moon."

With rather clear skies, CNYcentral and I have received some very cool pictures of the full moon.

While technically the moon is completely full at 11:57 AM Wednesday, it will look completely full Tuesday night.

Cloud cover will potentially obscure Wednesday night's viewing, so get outside now, take pictures and send your pictures by clicking Chiming In here!

WE MIGHT SHOW YOUR PICTURES ON OUR NEWSCASTS!

Here are some of your pictures sent in so far:

There is a lot going on over the next several days.

Here is a look at our top 3 next weather makers coming up:

The record high for Thursday is 60 degrees set back in 2006 and 1981. Numbers may get close to this value Thursday afternoon or Thursday evening!

A combination of this warmth and some upcoming rain poses the threat for localized flooding, especially where the rain is the heaviest.

Here is an initial look at the rainfall forecast (subject to change):

The highest risk for the heaviest rain Thursday into Thursday night will be east of Lake Ontario, the Tug Hill Plateau, the Adirondacks, northern New York and western New York.

These areas will have the best chance for ice jam river flooding and flooding of low-lying flood prone areas and wet basements.

Some computer models extend this heavier rain further south into CNY, so this will have to be monitored carefully!

A strong cold front will then plow through CNY later Thursday night with rain changing to a wintry mixture and then snow.

Temperatures will fall quickly from the 50s in the 20s by and before the Friday morning commute.

While the amount of snow in CNY looks to be on the lower end (coating to an inch or two), I am concerned about the possibility for a flash freeze of highways, roads, driveways, parking lots, and sidewalks due to fast-falling temperatures and rain changing to snow by dawn. Be aware of this potential for Friday morning!
