Report: Chargers hiring Shane Day as quarterbacks coach

The Chargers found their play-caller for quarterback Justin Herbert in Joe Lombardi. Now, they have the one who will be working with him in regards to the fundamental and mental aspect.

According to ESPN’s Nick Wagoner, Los Angeles is hiring former 49ers quarterback coach Shane Day to serve as the same role as well as passing game coordinator.

Day’s coaching career dates back to 2006, where he’s worked both at the college and NFL level.

Prior to his days with San Francisco, Day served as the Bears’ quarterback coach, two seasons as Football Team’s assistant offensive line coach, and three seasons as the Dolphins tight ends coach.

Pep Hamilton, the Bolts’ former quarterbacks coach, who had a lot of success working with Herbert in 2020, is expected to be hired by the Texans in the same position.
