Campfire Girls in 1994: From left, Andrew Clark, Jon Pikus and Christian Stone

Campfire Girls were an alternative rock outfit in the vein a many Los Angeles bands of the mind-1990s — strident, comfortably abrasive and wracked by turmoil, much of it owing to substance abuse. In post-Nirvana L.A., they were one of the city’s true buzz bands.

The band — originally Christian Stone, Andrew Clark and Jon Pikus — had not one but two deals with Interscope. The first yielded the EP “Mood Enhancer,” released in 1995. At the time, the band had finished their full-length, “Delongpre,” but they already were spiraling towards doom. A few years later, under the unlikely stewardship of Scott Weiland, Campfire Girls regrouped with a new lineup backing Stone, released a new version of “Delongpre” and the 2003 full-length “Tell Them Hi.”

Fast-forward to last summer: “We got together on a lark just to rehearse for an afternoon and see how things felt after 18 years apart,” Pikus says. “It sounded good and we made a band Instagram.” Justin Warfield and Adam Bravin of She Wants Revenge spotted it and invited Campfire Girls to open some dates for them, including this weekend’s shows at the Roxy.

Also along the way, Campfire Girls dug into their archives and unearthed the “OG version” of “Delongpre” [it is downloadable on Soundcloud], intended for that 1995 release. It includes the songs “Post Coital” and “Broken Tooth,” both of which were re-recorded for “Tell Them Hi.”

Check them out and tell them the Old Guard sent ya.
