These seeds were collected from Angelica archangelica, also known as Holy Ghost, Norwegian Angelica, Wild Celery, and Garden Angelica. This biennial herb likes to live in sun to partial shade where it grows up to about 8 feet high and attracts a large number of birds, bees, and butterflies. The green blossoms are on display from late spring until early summer. The leaves can be eaten raw such as in salads or it can be cooked and eaten as a vegetable. It has a slight licorice flavor. Stalks and young shoots can also be eaten raw or cooked. The roots and seeds can be eaten cooked and the seeds are used to make Chartreuse. The leaves, seeds, and roots can be used to make a tea. A very useful oil can be extracted from the seeds and roots. USDA Hardiness Zones 4 to 9.
