Ski Arlberg Tips
Beginner
- St. Anton:
- The beginners areas are spread across the base of the Gampen
- After that there are a good selections up the Gampen and Galzig
- It’s also worht crossing the road to the Rendl area where there are some quieter runs, you can also watch some of the lunacy going on the park area near the top of the Rendlgahn
- Lech:
- If you can either afford it or can be bothered to get a lift over to Lech you’ll find the best beginner areas of Ski Arlberg. There are plenty of runs for beginners near the village to start, and then lots of gentle wide blues as you progress. The area often feels a lot quieter than the other resorts too
- Zurs:
- There are beginner runs near the village in Zurs
- Once you progress the long runs from the Hevenboden are where you’ll really be able to develop those turns.
Intermediate
- St. Anton:
- Our favourites in St Anton are piste 85 and 77. We weren’t so fond of the ski routes which were mogulled out and iced over. However, they can be lovely if the snow if fresh.
- Rendl is also well worth a visit. Try out the park for a bit and the run down piste 1 is a joy.
- Lech:
- The intermediate slopes are a bit of a pain to get to, but worth it once you are there. Head up the Zuger Hochlicht mountain to get the best of them.
- Zurs:
- No matter where you turn in Zurs you’ll find a nice intermediate piste to have a go at. Some are more challenging than others, and the blue runs can provide a bit of respite for weary legs.
Advanced
- St. Anton:
- Piste 42 off Kappall and 30 off Gampen were our preferred steep runs. 52 is pretty much a mogul field to get to the main apres ski huts.
- The biggest draw for advanced skiers is the unpisted ski-routes if the snow is fresh.
- Lech:
- If you’re looking for black pistes head to the Warth area via the Schlosskopfe gondola.
- If there is fresh snow give the ski routes a go. They are unpisted so not recommended if it’s icey – it can be deceiving so make sure you check before you drop into the piste.
- Zurs:
- Zurs is less well served for steep pistes, but as the village is central you can get over to St Anton or Warth to get the best of the steeps.
