Meet the Gemsbok
Gemsbok are large antelopes that are native to extremely dry, arid regions of Africa, particularly the Kalahari Desert. They can be recognized for their black tails, black stripe down their neck, and their spectacular horns. Both males and females have horns, though females tend to have smaller, thinner horns than males.
About Gemsbok
Gemsbok live in herds of between 10 and 40 individuals. They are mainly desert-dwelling species and don't depend on drinking water to supply their physiological needs. Gemsbok are fast antelope and can reach up to 37 miles per hour. The Gemsbok is typically preyed upon by lions, cougars, cheetahs, and leopards.

Due to their desert-like surroundings, Gemsbok have adapted to living most of the year without drinking water. They get the water that they need through fruits and desert melons they dig up during drought.
