Military Fashion is definitely a trend that has a trickle up theory as it stemmed from soldiers and their war uniforms. I love when styles have a trickle up theory versus down as it shows we are creating a more equal society and the hierarchy lines are starting to narrow. Military fashion has been around since 2008 and has never seemed to fully hit the obsolesce stage and according to fashioning.com, “The women’s military fashion trend isn’t going anywhere”. I personally own a lot of military inspired clothing especially boots. There is no question that most military fashions are unisex although they definitely have a lot of masculine features about them. A lot of military designs are produced in a dark range of colors including black, navy, army green, khaki, olive and dark brown. In 2010, Military fashion evolved from the looks of the 19th century into the modern softer one. (Donalson, 2010). I love this trend because as I stated above, military fashion is known to harsh and masculine so I think a more delicate and elegant twist is refreshing. Burberry Prorsum came out with a military inspired line back in 2008 and had great success with it. I am a huge fan and love everything about military inspired clothes especially in the fall.

It’s definitely something new and fresh while showing that times are changing! Plus I liked your example about the military look – I was going to use this as well since it is a pretty popular trend that could even be considered “classic” since you can never go wrong with the look.
Very good post! The military look is a good example of a trickle up style. I liked your comment about trickle up fashions are narrowing the social hierarchy and I strongly agree with you. Trickle up fashions have a deeper story to them and create meaning through those stories.
